Saudi Girl Excuted For Following Jesus

Saudi girl executed for becoming Christian

Israel Today Staff - Aug 14, 2008
Israel Today

A young girl in Saudi Arabia was brutally executed by her Muslim father this week after he learned his daughter had converted to Christianity.

Middle East business news website Zawya.com reported that the man, who is a prominent member of a "virtue committee," first cut out his daughter's tongue and held a one-sided religious debate with her. He then burned his daughter alive.

Observant Muslims hold that their Prophet Mohammed taught that Muslims who convert to any other religion must be killed, often in extremely brutal fashion.

Have You Disappeared?

"Therefore I loathe [my words] and abhor myself and repent in dust and ashes."  (Job 42:6-- Amplified Bible)

Literally, I "spurn, cast away, disdain" myself and cause myself "to disappear."  Here we see self yielding to the Almighty.  I "disappear."  What is it which John said?  "[Jesus] must increase, but I must decrease."  This same conclusion Job came to after the long duration of suffering, the suffering of great loss, of friends who were more like enemies, and the realization of utter futility in the attempt to understand life and the universe.  This was indeed a broken man.

I recently took part in a "solemn assembly."  It was a good attempt, but I did not sense in any of us (myself included) the heart of Job expressed in our text.  In fact, and in reality, I must ask myself, "Have I ever come to this point?"  I have been "down," hurting, known pain and heartache, but that is not enough; it does not "qualify" as repentance, as causing myself "to disappear."  To tell the truth, I don't think it can be explained.  It must come through impartation.

If you and I ask for a self abhorrent heart, a heart which has written on it, "I am crucified with Christ," we may need to be prepared for "the process" which brings us to such a state.  Whatever it is, and whatever is involved, the result of such a heart in us Followers of Jesus Christ, would be life, community, and even nation changing.

Father, in Jesus' Name, I am afraid to pray for the "heart" of Job.  Release me to pray it.  Amen.

"Every Word of God is Pure (Unalloyed)"

"....for the sake of the truth which abides in us and will be with us forever...." (2 John 2)

The wife of a very prominent pastor/missionary is writing a book and recently sent out an e-mail speaking of her journey.  Near the beginning, she wrote, "I've been reading the Book of Acts recently.
It's a real joy,
since I haven't read Acts for years" (Emphasis mine).  I read our text late last night-- "for the sake of the truth which abides in us and will be with us forever," and thought of her.  During  all the years in which she has been only reading her "favorite" portions of Scripture, she has been robing herself of "every Word of God."

"
The truth which abides in us and will be with us forever"---- The
Truth, of course, is not ideas, but a Person, Jesus Christ.  But the Truth which Jesus
is and the written Word which we have are inextricable.  Jesus, the Truth, is manifested beautifully in the Scriptures.  Jesus, the Son and "Breath" of Our Father, "abides in us and will be with us forever."  This word went deep in me, blessed me, ignited me---------------------------- "abides in us...with us forever."

Remember Falwell's famous statement, "Every Christian should read every word of the Bible at least once a year."  This is not legalistic, Pharisaical, religion.  As Moses said of the Words of God, "
They are your life."  The blessing which I am still enjoying this morning came because I read, what is for most, an obscure portion of Scripture.  Our sister discovered "lost" passages.  Do not allow those "tiny morsels" to escape you

Father, in Jesus' Name, "
Your Word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path," and "my delight," Your Breath, my oxygen.  I love You.  Amen.

We Are Watching People Condemn God to Justify Themselves

"Would you discredit my justice?  Would you condemn me to justify yourself?" (Job 40:8-- NLT)

From the Garden to this day, man has been attempting this.  Condemn God to justify himself.  Everyone who has ever been angry at God is guilty of this.

I saw on a news broadcast a segment from the popular chick program, "The View."  This is one of the most ridiculous programs in the history of television.  People who know nothing entertaining fans who
care to know nothing.  The seeming "hostess" was blaming God for everything from Hurricanes to Tsunamis, and it was all an attack and attempt to discredit Sarah Palin's Biblical beliefs.  I saw evil personified.  And beware of CNN and MSNBC.  They are fulfilling the word of God in Ezekiel 8:13, "Come, and I will show you even more detestable sins than these!"

I have never heard such public tirades against someone who represents the Kingdom of Heaven as I have heard against Sarah Palin.  The reason is simple, very simple.  As most people in the world, I do not know much about the Republican VP Candidate, but there is no doubt that she is not only identified with Jesus Christ and His Church, but she is identified as a Holy Spirit Baptized Pentecostal who, to the condemners of God, actually has the gall to believe in prayer!

The thought occurred to me the other day.  Years ago I began praying for a born-of-the-Spirit Believer in Jesus Christ and Holy Spirit baptized man in the White House.  Could it be true that "some of God's best men are women?!?"

Father, in Jesus' Name, You are allowing darkness and light to manifest.  Keep me in the Light.  Amen.

"Remember-- As Though"

"Remember those who are in prison as if you were their fellow prisoner, and those who are ill-treated, since you also are liable to bodily sufferings."  (Hebrews 13:3-- Amplified Bible)

I was scheduled today to be in the Israeli Embassy briefing, VAT meeting, DC prayer on site.  It didn't happen.  I have a totally clogged left ear and a slightly swollen gland.  Last night I was just totally wiped out---- my time-to-time battle with upper respiratory weakness.  I praise The Trinity that I feel some better today; but the harsh reality of life is that every one of us, in some form or other, "
are liable to bodily sufferings."

Quite often we receive prayer requests for people whom we never met.  They usually come from friends and fellow Believers.  Over the years, the first thought always has been, "Okay, I'll do that;" but I must admit that my heart was not always in it.  Years ago, the Lord Jesus impressed me to just imagine that is your wife, your children, parents, brother, sister.  My praying for unknown folk changed.  It may sound as though Jesus is appealing to our selfishness, but remember; "
Love your neighbor as yourself.

The Contemporary English Version translates the last part of our text, "
Don't forget those who are suffering, but imagine that you are there with them." It makes no difference which translation we read;  the conclusion is the same.  The suffering of humanity reveals just how precarious life is in this present age.  We are all indeed as the hymn writer said, "Frail children of dust, and feeble as frail."  With this in mind, we should understand why the command of Jesus has never changed-------------- "Remember!"

Our text is in the context of a summary of our "pilgrims'" journey, which includes various commands, exhortations, comforts, warnings.  Yet right in the middle, the "
God-Breathed" Word gives us the great "Why" of all we are and do-- "Therefore Jesus also, that He might sanctify the people through His own blood, suffered outside the gate.  So, let us go out to Him outside the camp, bearing His reproach.  For here we do not have a lasting city, but we are seeking the city which is to come."

Father, in Jesus' Name, I admit that "identity crises" come when I am the identity.  May You and humanity always be my identity.  Amen.

I Say To Condemnation, "I Banish You--- You are Banished"

"Therefore there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus."  (Romans 8:1)

Literally, "
Therefore there is now no trial, no punishment, no damnation, no decree, no suit, no 'call into question,' for those who are in Christ Jesus." If there is a "call into question" concerning our salvation and relationship in Jesus Christ, then it is only because we are either not reading correctly, or reading with only ourselves in mind.  I checked 21 translations, and all agree; if I am in Christ Jesus-------------"No condemnation."

The Gospel declares that all of the "
condemnation" which I, others, and the Devil try to put on me was "put on" Jesus at the Cross. "Surely our griefs [Jesus] Himself bore, and our sorrows.., our transgressions.., our iniquities; the chastening for our well-being fell upon [Jesus], and by [Jesus'] scourging (Blood) we are healed....The LORD has caused the iniquity of us all to fall on [Jesus]."  Of course, the question continually remains; which words (and thoughts) will I believe?!?

I find the dictionary many times helps us to understand just how simple, yet powerful words can be.  One of the definitions for, "no," is, "used in notices or slogans
forbidding or rejecting something specified."  So, here's my "word" for you today:  "I forbid and reject the 'specified' condemnation, which you yourself and the Enemy has continually tried to allow and accept."  Or, in the words of a recent television commercial, I say to condemnation, "I banish you; you are banished."

Father, in Jesus' name, I pray that my "belief system" will be manifest in my "obedience system."  Amen.
