WHY?

"The Lord sat as King at the Flood; yes, the Lord sits as King forever.  The Lord will give strength to his people; the Lord will bless His people with peace."  (Psalm 29. 10, 11-- NASB)

Four young children were swept away in the recent Kentucky floods.  When I was younger, I don't remember that I asked too many whys.  With a very sad heart, however, I did this morning.      

Now I have had theological "reasons" over the years for the seemingly inexplainable, but perhaps a more important realization came to me this morning.  Lord God Almighty, while my understanding is so feeble, I know one thing for sure:  I desperately, O, so desperately need, depend, rely upon You, for without You, Father, Son Jesus and Holy Spirit, I'm done, no comfort, no sustenance, no hope.  You, Lord Jesus, are My my Perfect Everything.  I commit any and all questions to You.

I have used our text many times over the years.  It is not what one might call a "micro devotional," viz., centers around us, or, "You need to do this," or, "God will do this for you," or, "Here is an answer for your problem," etc.  It just very clearly declares a most comforting Eternal reality.  "The Lord [Jesus Christ] sat as King at the Flood, yes, the Lord [Jesus Christ] sits as King forever", and, by the way, our "nows" are very much included in, "forever."

Father, in Jesus' Name, Into Your hands I commit myself.  Amen.

Hebrews 12:2

"The Carpenter"

"Is this not the carpenter, the son of Mary, and brother of James, Joses, Judas, and Simon?  And are not His sisters with us?"  (Mark 6:3)

Yes, gentlemen, and humanity.  The Triune God of the Universe became, "....the carpenter, the son of Mary, and brother of four brothers and several sisters.  In short, in Jesus Christ, God became "one of us."  Deal with it--------- while, "I stand amazed in the presence of Jesus, the Nazarene."

Father, in Jesus' Name, it is all beyond me, but I so thank You that You are not.  You have brought me into Yourself.  Amen.

"PARTAKERS"

"Therefore, holy brethren, partakers of the heavenly calling, consider the Apostle and High Priest of our confession, Christ Jesus....For we have become partakers of Christ if we hold the beginning of our confidence steadfast to the end."  (Hebrews 3:1 & 14)

Those of us who follow Jesus are, "partakers of the heavenly calling," aka, "partakers of Christ."  The Word for, "partakers," includes the meaning of, "sharers, partners, associates, companions."  Indeed, "....in Him we live and move and have our being."   What a glorious relationship in the Godhead.

Father, in Jesus' Name, thank You for this.  Amen.
