"Sons of Fresh Oil"

"These are the sons of fresh oil, who stand beside the Lord of the whole earth."  (Zechariah 4:14)

As I read this yesterday, I believe this is a description of the Church of Jesus Christ.  The world in this moment needs, "sons of fresh oil."

"....sons of fresh oil."  What a contrast to the vast majority of the media and so many political and entertainment people who spue lies, and contribute to the destruction of interpersonal relationships, and are attempting to destroy the very nation which has kept the globe, from my grandparents' and parents' generations, right up to the present, from being dominated by dictators.

"Sons of fresh oil."  I won't get all "spiritual" here with this, but I know there is so much more here than I know.  I do know, however, that the hurting, the lonely, the captives of the Enemy need to see the Followers of Jesus, as the, "sons of fresh oil."  The very phrase speaks of anointed to heal.

Father, in Jesus' Name, I so want to be a part of the, "sons of fresh oil."  Amen.

“....SINK DEEP....”

"Son of man, Let all My Words sink deep into your own heart first.  Listen to them carefully for yourself."  (Ezekiel 3:10, NLT)

Our text should be at the beginning of every "foundations course" in our churches.  "It is like a person building a house who digs deep and lays the foundation on solid rock."

This is glorious "Pastoral Care" from our, "Good Shepherd"/Pastor, Jesus Christ.  If Jesus' Words, "sink deep into [my] heart first," whatever occurs next will be, "He makes me to lie down in green pastures;  He leads me beside the still waters.  He restores my soul; He leads me in the paths of righteousness for His Name's sake."

Father, in Jesus' Name, in the Holy Spirit I pray for this text to be my Reality.  Amen.

"'Return To Me,' Says The Lord of Hosts"

"Therefore say to them, 'Thus says the Lord of hosts: 'Return to Me,' says the Lord of hosts, 'and I will return to you,' says the Lord of hosts."  (Zechariah 1:3)

The phrase, and what has become for too many a cliche, "God has everything under control," tends to imply, "It really doesn't matter what anyone does."  Our text says otherwise.

"Return to Me...."  You and I control this; not God.  Our text does not say that God will turn to you and me, or a nation, if we do not, "Return to Me...."  The Glorious and precious Grace of Jesus Christ does not replace, "Return to Me...and I will return to you...." 

Father, in Jesus' Name, I really do not know what all lies behind the ''decision-making" processes in life.  But I do turn to You.  Amen.

Have You Ever Noticed This "Reasoning?"

"By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God and do His commandments."  (1 John 5:2, NASB)

You would think it should be the other way around.  "When we love God and do His commandments", only then can we, "....love the children of God."  Not so.

"The Word of God," is telling us here that I simply do not love you, if what I call "love" is not rooted in my love for, and obedience to our Father in our Lord Jesus Christ.  If people do not love the Living Triune God and, "do,"viz., obey, "His commandments," their, "I love you," is meaningless, empty talk.  

This is another example that goodness, righteousness, love, etc., do not originate in you and me.  All is only in Jesus Christ and our accompanying love and surrender/obedience to Him.  

Father, in Jesus' Name, thank You for this "fact check" on my, "love of the brethren."  Amen.
