The Case Against Jesus Christ and His Words

"Nevertheless the solid foundation of God stands, having this seal:  'The Lord knows those who are His.'"  (2 Timothy 2:19)

Bauer reported yesterday, "News broke yesterday that a homosexual activist, who runs a blog on Barack Obama's campaign website, is suing two leading Christian publishing companies, Thomas Nelson and Zondervan, for emotional pain and mental distress. His "anguish" was caused by the fact that the Bibles they print describe homosexual conduct as a sin.  He is seeking $70 million in damages."  Poor guy.  Why don't we all sue.  The Bible tells me that there is only one way to "the Father," to Heaven, and it's not my way!  Think of it.  I cannot have my way on this planet.  I cannot just do as I like and escape not only consequences, but coming judgment.  And if I don't accept that one, "narrow-is-the-way" in the Blood of Jesus Christ, I will be brought before the Great White Throne Judgment, pronounced guilty of trespassing in God's universe and sent to the Lake of Fire.  Maybe this homosexual should go for $700,000,000.  Let's not play around here.  I could give him more stuff for the trial!

This is the America which awaits an Obama presidency.  I heard him say again yesterday what he has been saying over and over again, that he will vigorously oppose any attempt to deprive women of their right to "reproductive choice."  Translated, "Women, as long as I am President, don't worry.  You can murder your babies all you want.  Freedom to me is freedom from the laws of God."  I have absolutely no doubt about this.  So-called Christians who vote for Barack Obama are doing the exact same thing as the homosexual mentioned above.  They are "suing" Jesus Christ for His unreasonable "Law-Word," the Bible.

The Holy Spirit recently has been taking me on a "tour" of my life.  He is showing me things which manifest the same rebellion as above, things in my life which I have either ignored or subtly justified that are just not of Him.  I am thankful.  He is not only healing my life now, but He is preparing me for the Next-------------------------------- No suit here!!

Father, in Jesus' Name, help me to not just see the suit in others.  Forgive me if there has ever been or is any of that in me.  Amen.

"Who Speaks in You"?

"....For it is not you who speak, but the Spirit of your Father who speaks in you."  (Matthew 10:20)

On the way down here to Washington, DC., I was listening to the Gospel of Matthew.  When I heard our text, I immediately adopted it as a new prayer text.  Yes, there are texts which express similar desires, but our text today is in the commissioning of the Apostles.  It is a classic "missionary" text------------------------------------ and prayer.

Adopt it for yourself.  But remember, this promise is for those who are speaking for the Living Triune God, revealed solely in Jesus Christ, and His Eternal Kingdom.  I would not advise presuming that we can claim the text if we are just speaking for ourselves, justifying ourselves, trying to build our own kingdoms.

Meditate on the text.  It is perhaps the greatest promise for a witness to Jesus Christ.

Father, in Jesus' Name, may Your Spirit always speak in me.  Amen.

I had to move my car this afternoon.  The temp read, 94 F.  You work up quite a sweat here in DC just going between buildings, especially with a suit on.  I will share some stuff from this afternoon's Senate Value Action Team meeting when I get back to Johnstown.  Senator Brownback was attending Jesse Helms' funeral.

"Halfhearted Battle Against a Committed Enemy"

"And the eye cannot say to the hand, 'I have no need of you'; or again the head to the feet, 'I have no need of you.'" (1 Cor.12:21)

The Taliban is trying to reassert itself.  Now they are attacking towns inside Pakistan.  I read a report today which stated, "The Pakistan army is trying to fight back, but it is a halfhearted battle against a committed enemy."  I have seen this true in football, and much more serious, this has been the defeat of nations throughout history.  Only inferior and uncommitted opposition can be defeated by "halfhearted battle."  The Believer in Jesus Christ, however, is up against the best the Kingdom of Darkness has to offer.  We do not just deal with the "troops" in this opposing kingdom.  We deal with the Supreme Commander, "a committed enemy."  You and I must out commit him.

May this Monday find you in an all out effort against the enemy who has only one desire and design on your life----- total defeat.  And remember, "An army is a team.  It eats, sleeps, and fights as a team" (Patton).  Too many Believers have acted as though, "just Jesus and me," is sufficient in this battle and have found themselves defeated
ruthlessly.  You may say, "But isn't Jesus powerful enough to help me in the fight."  Perhaps, but that is not the issue.  You and I are not called to a life of individuality.  Earlier in the epistle, Paul says, "
For by one Spirit we were all baptized into one body, whether Jews or Greeks, whether slaves or free, and we were all made to drink of one Spirit." Notice, it is "all...into one...."

Do not say to anyone in Christ's Body, "
I have no need of you."  Instead, try living a little more corporately, and see how your strength, and even your commitment, increases in the battle.

Father, in Jesus' Name, I thank You for Your Church.  Help me to live like it.   Amen
