While Others Do Not Heed Warnings-------Heed!

The owners of this house rebuilt it in '06 to withstand a category 5 hurricane.
It looks as though the others did not.
Any life lessons here?

"My Trust" Is Not Wall Street and the US Congress

"In the LORD I put my trust...." (Psalm 11:1)

The NASB says, "In the LORD I take refuge."  Literally, "I flee for protection."  I have read this verse at least once a month for years.  It can be just a cliche to many.  What about you?  The Satanic media, yes, you read me right, the Satanic media is doing all it can to belittle Believers in Jesus Christ, the "God-Breathed" Word, the Church------------------ and any one who would dare to be identified with Him, not only in America but around the world.  They have done it to President George Bush and are currently doing it to Sarah Palin.  It is getting worse by the day.

You and I will be making decisions in the coming days which will not only affect you and me, but everyone around us.  We are the bearers of the Covenant.  We are the ones who affirm our text.  Can we expect the pagan to do this?  Of course not.  Jesus told Pilate that He came "to bear witness to the truth."  That is our call.  People who don't surrender their lives to Jesus, The Truth, are incapable of truth.  If the world is going to see and hear Truth, it must be we who bear and take that responsibility.

It is our Lord Jesus who says, "You are the salt of the earth....You are the light of the worldA city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden"---no matter how hard we may try.  This Word is to the Church.  If there is to be any salvation in the "earth" and the "world," humanity must not only hear the Church of Jesus Christ preach, "In the LORD [Jesus Christ] I put my trust---to Him we "flee for protection."  They must see the Church live it.
Father, in Jesus' Name, in You "I put my trust" today.  I "flee for protection" to You----------- to nothing and no one else.  Amen.

"That He Might Bring Us In, He Brought Us Out"

"He brought us out from there, that He might bring us in, to give us the land of which He swore to our fathers."  (Deut. 6:23)

"....
He brought us out...that He might bring us in...."  This is a principle of life.  Everyone wants out of a bad situation and someone to "bring us in, to give us"---- something----- answers, remedies, anything; just fix it.  But what most refuse to accept is that in order for God to "bring us in," He must first bring "us out from there"---- "from" our ideas, our desires, our remedies, our everything.

Every day men and nations have the same choice.  Cling desperately to what they have, what they have created, their pleasures, their treasures, their wisdom and remedies, or, let go and grasp Jesus Christ, His "
pleasures forevermore," His "treasure in Heaven," the gifts of His Holy Spirit, His "God-Breathed" Word------- His Cross.  The Principle of Life in this universe cries out, "Whoever desires to come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow Me."

For you and me, America, and the nations of the world in their turmoil, consider this remedy: "
Deny... and... Follow."

Father, in Jesus' Name, I say with the hymn writer, "All the vain things that charm me most, I sacrifice them to His Blood."  Amen.

"If They Had Listened...They Could Have Saved Their Lives"

"They heard the alarm but ignored it, so the responsibility is theirs.  If they had listened to the warning, they could have saved their lives." (Ezekiel 33:5-- NLT))

This is not a call for us to save ourselves.  This is a call to "
hear what the Spirit is saying to the Churches."  It is a call to obedience.

I would not inundate you with this if I did not think it would encourage you to pray fervently in this hour.
The following are quotes from the "Der Spiegel" article to which I referred yesterday. The article reveals just how parochial most Americans and the American Press are.

You can access the complete article @:     www.antipasprayerforce.blogspot.com

(Quotes From Article: "The End of Arrogance: America Loses Its Dominant Economic Role")

"We don't think of others or of tomorrow.

"
The US consumer has consumed himself to death.

"US economist Robert Shiller, who predicted the bursting of the dot-com bubble at the turn of the century, was one of the first to notice that the value of houses and condominiums in the United States was rising at a suspiciously fast rate.  In Shiller's view, this was another case of irrational exuberance.  In December 2004, Stephen Roach, the former chief economist at investment bank Morgan Stanley, cautioned against the 'grimmest of all financial bubbles.'

"To make matters worse, because a large share of the mortgage loans are now distributed all over the world, the crisis is spreading halfway around the globe like an infectious disease.  In recent years, many of the industrialized countries deregulated their financial markets based on the American model. This has led to a relatively unimpeded flow of capital around the world today....

"There was certainly no shortage of warnings, and there were many voices of caution.  As long ago as 1936, John Maynard Keynes recognized the risk that 'speculation may win the upper hand' in the
markets.  Its influence in New York, the British economist wrote, was 'enormous,' and the situation would become serious 'when the capital development of a country becomes the by-product of the activities of a casino.'

"A new chapter in economic history has begun, one in which the United States will no longer play its former dominant role.  A process of redistributing money and power around the world -- away from America and toward the resource-rich countries and rising industrialized nations in Asia -- has been underway for years.  The financial crisis will only accelerate the process.

"Both in Asia and the United States, expressing schadenfreude (harming joy) over the decline of the United States as a superpower is out of place. The risk is too great that if America goes into a tailspin, it will drag the rest of the world down with it."

Father, in Jesus' Name, help me to see what I have contributed to all of this, how I can change, and how I can help others.  Amen.

Pray the Psalms With Us

In preparation for the 2008 American Presidential Election, November 4th, will you join us in praying through the Book of Psalms during the month of October?  This endeavor is separate from the other prayer times.  Just five Psalms a day will do it.  October 1: Psalms 1-5

Does Anybody Care "A Bit What Happens to Me?"

"I look for someone to come and help me, but no one gives me a passing thought!  No one will help me; no one cares a bit what happens to me.  Then I pray to you, O LORD.  I say, 'You are my place of refuge.  You are all I really want in life.'" (Psalm 142:4, 5- NLT)

The subtitle in the NKJV of this Psalm is, "A Contemplation of David.  A Prayer when he was in the cave."  You've been in that "cave," haven't you?;'  Our text was my Psalms reading yesterday.  In that cave, David was complaining that "
No one cares a bit what happens to me."  As the day unfolded, I saw this attitude abroad in America, perhaps as never before.

America's reckless, greedy ways have caught up with us.  In the attempt to fill the void of life with things, people kept spending, hoping to fill that void.  It didn't happen.  Now they are feeling abandoned, alone, forgotten, victimized, angry, looking for not only someone to blame, but also someone to make it all right.  Individual responsibility, a key philosophy in the Republican Party, is practically non existent in the Democrat Party.  Yesterday we saw this personified.  One party says, "You dug this pit for yourself; you can dig yourself out."  The other says, "Someone threw you into this pit, and we will make them pay!"

Mankind has battled the deception, everyone-but-me, throughout the centuries.  But the difference between most of humanity and David is that David, no matter how bad things were, took responsibility ("
I have sinned").  There were indeed times, as in our text, when God seemed far from his crying-- "no one cares a bit what happens to me"-- but he always came back to his Lord.  David, as Abraham before him, saw the Lord Jesus, and declared throughout his life, "The Lord is my Shepherd."  This Lord Jesus "is my light and my salvation....The Lord is the strength of my life-- my fortress--my Refuge.  The "sweet psalmist of Israel," the man who "had God's Heart," declared, "Lord Jesus, My Shepherd, 'You are all I really want in life.'"----------- Imagine, just for a moment, a nation with such a heart.

Father, in Jesus' Name, "
You are all I really want in life. " Amen.

"You Are My Friends--------------------------If...."

"You are My friends if you do whatever I command you." (John 15:14)

Many modern worship songs are half truths.  We love to sing and dance to the song, "He Calls Me Friend."  I carried an "American Federation of Musicians" membership card for over 8 years and can tell you that if we added a little syncopation, it could fit musically and lyrically to add, "if you do whatever I command you."  But then, of course, why would we want to do that and ruin everyone's fun?

"You are My friends"--- there are no greater Words uttered in the history of man.  Yet this friendship is a covenantal friendship.  Now I have heard religious pundits and theologians over the years say that the nature of Biblical Covenants is all God.  I don't think so.  This great declaration, promise, blessing of the Word of God to the first disciples has the same "if" clause as most other covenants in the Bible-------- "If you will, then I will."  Any other interpretation of the nature of man's relationship with the Father in Jesus Christ is erroneous.

If you have ever wondered why your friendship with Jesus Christ seems strained, distant, so "unfulfilling," perhaps you need to do an "obedience" check.  "You are My friends, if you do whatever I command you."  I love the, "My friends," part, but I must also constantly check the, "whatever I command you," part.  Anyway, in light of the preciousness of Friendship with and in Jesus Christ, why would I ever consider the "if" clause a negative?!?  It's a very, very small fleshly "price" for Such Friendship.
