Charles Spurgeon said of this Psalm, "It is...David's favourite....It is...praise pitched in a high key....It is...his crown jewel of praise." I claim that same statement. It says everything for me. Thank you, David. It is called "A Praise of David." Indeed, no greater praise has ever been offered by a mortal. "Every day I will bless You, and I will praise Your name forever and ever....His greatness is unsearchable....I will meditate on the glorious splendor of Your majesty....I will declare Your greatness....Your kingdom is an everlasting kingdom (or, 'a kingdom of all ages') and Your dominion endures throughout all generations....My mouth shall speak the praise of the Lord, and all flesh shall bless His holy name forever and ever."
How appropriate this Psalm would be for the "Holocaust Remembrance" day, May 1. What a powerful testimony to the Jewish People this is. What glorious reminder that no matter what history has brought their way, or yours and mine for that matter, this is Who the Living Triune God is in all reality, the Faithful, the Eternal One, the One Who Alone, "endures throughout all generations." And, my friend, so will you and I, if we walk in Him, abide in Him, and obey Him.
The passing of centuries has revealed that the Gospel of Jesus has been a, "stumbling block," and, "foolishness." Generation after generation, and not just Jews, have, "stumbled at that stumbling stone," over the realities that, "the Word became flesh and dwelt among us," that the Living Triune God is indeed Triune, Father, Son, Holy Spirit, that Jesus, "who for us men and our salvation came down," that, "there is therefore no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus," that, "without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness," and that Blood is not, "the blood of bulls and goats,...but...the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot."
Jesus said, "Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away." Of course, "Your kingdom is a kingdom of all ages."
Father, in Jesus' Name, Amen.
