From Yesterday's Reading: Never Gets "Old" For Me

"Peter, an apostle of Jesus Christ, to God's elect...who have been chosen according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, through the sanctifying work of the Spirit, to be obedient to Jesus Christ and sprinkled with His Blood: Grace and peace be yours in abundance."

And so may this be yours always.

Father, in Jesus' Name, Your Words, "....are life...."  Amen.

When Peter, an 18 year old Norwegian, "heard the call to evangelize China, on that day he not only emptied his wallet into the collection plate, but included a small note with the words, 'and my life.'"

Hebrews 12:2

"....No Other Foundation...."

"For no other foundation can anyone lay than that which is laid, which is Jesus Christ."  (1 Corinthians 3:11)

Many are familiar with this passage, viz., the Words of this passage.  In practice, however, they are not.  

I have shared before about a man in one of our churches over 50 years ago, when asked by a neighbor how he liked the new pastor, responded, "He's okay, but all we hear is Jesus, Jesus, Jesus."  Guilty.  There are many reasons for this.  Our text is just one of them.

Father, in Jesus' Name, I have no other, "Foundation."  Amen.

Litany of the Most Precious Blood - District of the USA

"Therefore, brethren, having boldness to enter the Holiest by the Blood of Jesus,...let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith...."  (Hebrews 10:19 & 22a)

Every senior at my seminary had to preach a "senior sermon" in one of the seminary chapel services.  I used the above text for the sermon and the following litany as a part of that service.

A "Reason" To, "Bless the Lord!"

"When leaders lead in Israel, when the people willingly offer themselves, Bless the Lord!"  (Judges 5:2)

These are two great "reasons" to, "Bless the Lord."

Father, in Jesus' Name, give us leaders who lead, and may I always be a, "....willing[] offer[ring]...."  Amen.
