"BUT I PRAYER"

"In return for my love they are my accusers, but I give myself to prayer."  (Psalm 109:4)

The Interlinear Hebrew text says, "....but I prayer."

Many have to resist vindictiveness, "e.g., "Well, if that's the way they are going to treat me, then...."  We can say, however, with utmost accuracy that no matter what, "....but I prayer."  Our King and Savior, Jesus Chrsit, manifested this "attitude" in His serving of humanity as He walked the Galilee, and ultimately on the Cross.

Keep the phrase from today's text in your heart the next time you encounter, "....they are my accusers."  The commitment, "....but I prayer", is the Christ-in-us way,

Father, in Jesus' Name, "....but I prayer."  Amen.

"A SPARROW ALONE"

"I am like a pelican of the wilderness; I am like an owl of the desert.  I lie awake, and am like a sparrow alone on the housetop."  (Psalm 102: 6, 7)

I know that some reading this are experiencing, "....like a sparrow alone..," right now.  Never forget, however, that "His eye is [indeed] on the sparrow."

Walking with Jesus Christ is Life Glorious, even though times as described in our text do come upon us.  Jesus Himself experienced the wilderness, the desert, and alone.  Jesus tells us, however, that in the midst of the worst this world can through at us, "But be of good cheer; I have overcome the world."

Father, in Jesus' Name, I thank You for telling us that the sparrow was not alone.  Amen.

"HELD RESPONSIBLE"

"If anyone sins because they do not speak up when they hear a public charge to testify regarding something they have seen or learned about, they will be held responsible."  (Leviticus 5:1, NIV)

If I may be so presumptuous; this is just good law.

Actually, if people would stop being so "entertainment" oriented, so demanding the dumbing-down of preaching and teaching, then they would read through the entire Bible regularly.

And when they read the whole Word of God, they would discover just how "ingenious" is the Law of the Lord God, and, relevant to every culture in the world.  Remember:  Jesus tells us, "Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them."

Father, in Jesus' Name, I want more in my heart that which the psalmist declared, "Oh, how I love Your Law!  It is my meditation all the day."  Amen.

"....WHO GAVE HIMSELF A RANSOM FOR US...."

"For there is one God and one Mediator between God and men, the Man Christ Jesus, who gave Himself a ransom for all...."  (1 Timothy 2:5-6a)

Jesus Christ is our Passover Lamb.  In the shedding of His Blood, Jesus protects us from Satanic destruction, as He did the Jews in Egypt, and imparts to us the forgiveness of sin.  The whole of the Old Covenant/Testament points to this reality.

We can say with certainty that all of Scripture, the Old and New Covenants/Testaments, points to Jesus Christ.  Jesus said that this is how we honor the Father------ when we honor the Son (John 5).

Father, in Jesus' Name, thank you, again and again, that You made Yourself known to all mankind in Jesus.  Amen.

Hebrews 12:2

"IN THE DAY OF MY TROUBLE...YOU WILL ANSWER ME"

"In the day of my trouble I will call upon You, for You will answer me."  (Psalm 86:7)

This is a great "statement of faith."  Too many of us, however, turn this around, "Will You answer me?"

I am finding more and more that our Living Triune God "answers" so many more of our prayers than we realize, and in ways we all too often fail to see.

Jesus tells us to keep praying no matter what seems to be the result.  "And shall God not avenge His own elect who cry out day and night to Him, though He bears long with them?  I tell you that He will avenge them speedily."  Maybe you and I need a new definition of, "speedily."  He then adds a very sobering question. "Nevertheless, when the Son of Man comes, will He really find faith on the earth?"

What about you and me today?  Will we be found walking in faith, continually pressing in, interceding, doing battle in the heavenlies, "....when the Son of Man comes...?"

Father, in Jesus' Name, my prayer is that our Holy Spirit will continually convict me of, "sin, righteousness, and judgement," concerning You and Your work in my life.  Amen.

"....I WAS...CONSIDERING THE OBJECTS OF YOUR WORSHIP"

"....As I was passing through and considering the objects of your worship, I even found an altar with this inscription: TO THE UNKNOWN GOD."  (Acts 17:22b, 23)

All religions pay homage, "to the unknown God."  When Jesus appeared among men, however, He declared, "He who has seen Me has seen the Father."  Yet it was indeed, "to the Jews a stumbling block (offense), and to the Gentiles foolishness."

The Father and Holy Spirit are invisible.  Jesus was not.  When Jesus appeared in the First Century AD, the response of the majority of the Jews proved that people create gods in their own image.  Colossians 1:15 declares, "Jesus is the image of the invisible God."

Songs, sermons, programs, promotional videos for churches and other ministries should be saturated with Jesus Christ.  He is the only way, "....the unknown God", becomes known.

Father, in Jesus' Name, thank You for making Yourself known.  Amen.

"SOME SAY"

"....Jesus...asked His disciples.., 'Who do men say that I...am?'  So they said, 'Some say....'  He said to them, 'But who do you say...?'" (Matthew 16)

Too many get caught up in the, "Some say...," of Christendom.  It is only acceptable in the Godhead if we live, "I 'say.'"

Father, in Jesus' Name, keep me free from "some say" religion.  Amen.
