Please Excuse Me, But the News Has Fired Me Up

"Beloved, I now write to you this second epistle (in both of which I stir up your pure minds by way of reminder), that you may be mindful of the words which were spoken before by the holy prophets, and of the commandment, of us, the apostles of the Lord and Savior, knowing this first: that scoffers will come in the last days, walking according to their own lusts, and saying, 'Where is the promise of His coming?'" (2 Peter 3:1-4a)

Our text is from yesterday's reading, and the very things to which I refer below were unfolding.

I have been asserting for years now that Israel's move to exit Gaza was a mistake, and the decision to surrender most of Judea and Samaria to the PA in the Clinton brokered Oslo Accords were a disaster for which Jews have paid a terrible price in many hundreds of Israeli deaths.  I have also asserted over the last 30+ years that Jimmy Carter, the worst president in attitude toward Israel in American history, strong-armed Begin to give up the Sinai------------ big mistakes which are now revealing just how big they were.

Now Egyptian troops are reentering the Sinai at an alarming rate, Egypt is demanding that Israel give up an important port city, and Libya is descending more and more into chaos, all this while the reprobate press and Western politicians have been praising the "Arab Spring."  The world, dear friend, is heading toward Armageddon and, "the promise of His coming".  Of course, who am I?--- a relative nobody, some ranting religious fanatic who takes the Bible literally, believes that there is only one way for man to escape the fires of Hell, and (what glorious promise) can actually be, in our very beings, "partakers in the divine nature."  But, what do I know?!?

I don't have a full speaking schedule; I don't have a mega church; I am not in demand as a conference and big-rally speaker.  But, my dear friend, I can read the Bible, something which so few in Christendom seem to be doing.  Much of it has fallen under the accusation of the Holy Spirit in our text, "....scoffers will come in the last days...."  They scoff at such cataclysmic talk, and teach their adherents, "Where is the promise of His coming?  For since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of creation."  Peter then pronounces judgment on such, "scoffers....For this they willfully forget:...the heavens and the earth...are...reserved for fire until the day of judgment and perdition of ungodly men."

But, no fear to those who are in Jesus Christ.  If you and I continue to live in, "the divine nature," which is none other than our King, Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, we will be taken care of; how he does this or will continue to do this I cannot say.  I do not condemn or "judge" those who hoard food supplies, buy gold, etc.  Rather, I pray for you and me that we will never, ever forget that, "the Lord knows how to deliver the godly...."  Mary had a "good word" for all of us, "Whatever He says to you, do."

Father, in Jesus' Name, I pray for Your continued guidance as to how to conduct myself in these chaotic days.  I still trust in You that, "I have been young, and now am old; yet I have not seen the righteous forsaken, nor his descendants begging bread."  Amen.

50 Years-- "Oh, How Sweet the Path"

"....His divine power has granted to us...that..you may become partakers of the divine nature...." (2 Peter 1:3 & 4, NASB)

50 years ago tonight at 24:00hrs, I knelt beside my bed and "officially" surrendered my life to Jesus Christ to become a pastor.  Little did I know on my knees that Friday, August night what the ensuing 50 years would bring.  Tomorrow evening is also the 50th reunion of my high school graduating class.

50 years ago the terms "prophetic" and "intercessor" were little known to me; so was "Bible smuggling" and "Underground Seminary."  While I have been (and still consider myself to be) a pastor for over 47 years, my MO greatly expanded during those years.  I can honestly say that the "expansion" of the call was not a conscious decision.  The best way to describe this 50 year pilgrimage of following Jesus is found in John 12:26, "If anyone serves Me, let him follow Me; and where I am, there My servant will be also."

The Greek word translated in our text, "partakers," is, "koinonos," the masculine form of, "koinonia" (feminine) which is most commonly translated, "fellowship."  The masculine form means "properly, a participant who mutually belongs and shares fellowship; a 'joint-participant.'"  The Message says it is our, "participation in the life of God."  Over the last 50 years, indeed, from that moment when I first surrendered my life to Jesus Christ, I have been "a participant who mutually belongs and shares fellowship; a 'joint-participant'" with all the saints of the ages who share, "participation in the life of God."
"What a fellowship, what a joy divine
Leaning on the everlasting arms;
What a blessedness, what a peace is mine,
Leaning on the everlasting arms
"....Oh, how sweet to walk in this pilgrim way,
Leaning on the everlasting arms'
Oh, how bright the path grows from day to day,
Leaning on the everlasting arms

"Leaning on Jesus, Leaning on Jesus,
Safe and secure from all alarms;
Leaning on Jesus, leaning on Jesus,
Leaning on the everlasting arms."

"Partakers of the Divine Nature"

"....His divine power has given to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him who called us by glory and virtue, by which have been given to us exceedingly great and precious promises, that by these you may be partakers of the divine nature...." (From 2 Peter 1:3 & 4)

How about this for today's "promise box"--------- "His divine power has given to us...the divine nature...."  Religions, philosophies, and the "Imagine[s]" of the world, be embarrassed and ashamed at this.  You can offer no such reality.

Jesus Christ appeared among men so that through His Precious Blood you and I, "may be partakers of the divine nature"-- the most glorious news ever announced and offered to humanity.  We are offered nothing less, and can there be anything "more?"  This is the summation of all the promises of the Bible, the reason for the "gifts," the, "anointing," the fulfillment and purpose of, "the exceedingly great and precious promises."  This is the reason you and I were born--- to partake, "of the divine nature."  We lost, "the divine nature," in the Garden.  We may receive, "the divine nature," in the Blood, Cross and resurrected Body of Jesus.

In this world of such deep sadness, confusion, and frustrated dreams, there are some who regret they were born.  They would regret no longer if they just accepted that they were born, "that...you may be partakers of the divine nature."

Father, in Jesus' Name, what can I say to Your Word?  I seem so far from this in my eyes, but may I not live in my eyes.  Amen.

Our "Like Precious Faith....Bestow[s] On Us All Things For Life"

"....a servant...of Jesus Christ, to those who have received...like precious faith with ourselves...." (2 Peter 1:1, Amplified Bible)

Personally, I am not getting excited by the so-called "Arab Spring;" i
t most likely will end as global winter.  The Enemy will never be placated no matter what we do.  But for the Followers of Jesus, t
here is just no despair.

Every time I come to Peter's letters I know there are new and wonderful promises awaiting.  We too are of, "those who have received a faith of the same kind," as Peter.  Our, "faith," is a, "precious faith...in and through the righteousness of our God and Savior Jesus Christ....His divine power has bestowed on us all things that [are requisite and suited] to life and godliness, through the [full, personal] knowledge of Him Who called us by and to His own glory and excellence (virtue)."  Now most think that in Jesus Christ we have all things only for, "godliness," viz., that which most believe is confined to religious life.  Our, "faith," is not so restricted.  The word here for, "life," means exactly that, "life, both of physical (present) and of spiritual (particularly future) existence."  Strong's Greek Studies says, "life (physical and spiritual).  All life throughout the universe...."  This means that you and I will never be left without life knowledge, a knowledge to navigate the stormy seas now an which lie ahead----------- as long as we are not without Him Who Alone is, "The Life."

I have sent two articles to our blog, www.apf327.blogspot.com
one which reveals the true intent of the Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt and the other, the racist, anti-Semitic nature of Amnesty International.  This comes as a shock to the uninformed, but not to those who are equipped with, "all things that [are requisite and suited] to life and godliness."  People who believe there is "some good in all people" are those who awake shocked at developing world events.  Not so for those full of the, "words of God
."

Fear will grip the hearts of those who limit, "all things that [are requisite and suited] to life and godliness."  Anticipation and hope will grip the hearts of, "those who have received...like precious faith with ourselves...."

Father, in Jesus' Name, I thank You for Your equipping for, "life."  Amen.

"They...Craved Intensely....So He Gave...Their Request"

"They...craved intensely in the wilderness....So He gave them their request...." (From Psalm 106:13-15, NASB)

There seems to be a principle of life on this planet which I see in our text for today:  If I do not let Jesus Christ have His way in my life, He will let me have my way in my life.

There is an old saying, "Be careful what you wish for."  A "wish list" which does not have the will, the purposes of Jesus Christ as Lord is a dangerous list indeed.  It has gotten more people in this life in deep trouble than any other phenomenon, and it is a trouble for which we "pay" the rest of our lives.

Now we all want happy "endings."  But I simply cannot promise any happy ending for us if we, "craved intensely in the wilderness," and reap the harvest of that craving.  The only thing I can do today for me and you is to pray what the psalmist later prayed, "Save us, O LORD our God,..to give thanks to Your holy name and glory in Your praiseBlessed be the LORD, the God of Israel, from everlasting even to everlasting."  Jesus does indeed, "save us."  He keeps, delivers, preserves, etc., all the great promises of the Bible.  But the harvest of, "craved intensely," whether in our youth or yesterday, still comes upon us.  The Biblical injunction is, be very careful what we "crave[] intensely."

Father, in Jesus' Name, I take full responsibility of all that I, "craved intensely," over my life time.  I surrender all that craving to You today.  "Save us, O LORD our God." Amen.
