"....JUST AS MY MOTHER DID"

"Oh, turn to me and have mercy on me!  Give Your strength to Your servant, and save the son of Your maidservant."  (Psalm 86:16)

The NIV says, "....save me, because I serve You just as my mother did."  It seems like a good translation.

One lasting impression of my Mother is seeing her in their bedroom on a Friday night, sitting at her desk and preparing her lesson for the Sunday School class of young adults which she taught.  While so many were doing so many other things, this faithful, "maidservant," of Jesus Christ was faithfully guarding that which was entrusted to her.

Father, in Jesus' Name, I pray that, "....I serve You just as  my mother did."  Amen.

WE ALL WERE ONCE HERE: AMERICA IS NOW

"Then all the men who knew that their wives were burning incense to other gods, along with all the women who were present...said to Jeremiah, 'We will not listen to the message you have spoken to us in the name of the Lord!  We will certainly do everything we said we would,..just as we and our ancestors,..did.'"  (From Jeremiah 44, NIV)

"We will not listen to the message," and, "We will certainly do everything we said we would," will certainly bring to pass in individuals and nations what Hosea 8:7 says, "They have sown the wind, and they will reap the whirlwind.  Their cornstalks stand there barren, withered, sickly, with no grain; if it has any, foreigners will eat it" (LB). 

Our Lord Jesus Christ tells us that His Followers are, "....the light of the world," and, "the salt of the earth."  This is only true, of course, when King Jesus reigns in us.  And if we are to see what August Franke declared, "A life changed, a Church revived, a nation reformed, a world evangelized," the Church must, "....listen to the message," and not, "....certainly do everything we said we would."

Father, in Jesus' Name, I repent of, "not listen to the message," and, "will certainly do everything we said we would."  Amen.

WHAT WILL THE RIGHTEOUS DO?

"....This Word came to Jeremiah from the Lord,..'Take a scroll of a book and write on it all the Words that I have spoken to you'....And it happened, when Jehudi had read three or four columns, that the king cut it with the scribe's knife and cast it into the fire that was on the hearth, until all the scroll was consumed in the fire...."  (Jeremiah 36)

They did this to, "the Words of God," and a few centuries later they did this to, "The Word of God."  Neither, however, could be destroyed.  Baruch just took another scroll and wrote Jeremiah's prophecy again, and Jesus rose, "from among the dead."  Satan and his humanist clones just might as well give up.

In 1962, the United States' Citizens just stood by as the Supreme Court, "....cut it with a scribe's knife and cast [the Bible] into the fire...."  60 years have passed since that "Book Burning"-------- and look what we have.  "The foundations are destroyed."  What will the American Church do?

Father, in Jesus' Name, assuredly, "[You are] not mocked."  We have reaped what we have sown as a nation.  I pray for Your Grace and Mercy to hear our prayer.  Amen.
