FROM WHERE/WHOM DO WE SEEK HELP?

"Happy is he who has the God of Jacob for his help, whose hope is in the Lord his God."  (Psalm 146:5)

There are so many people, institutions, etc., in which one can seek help and have hope.  Deep down today, where is your help and hope?

A king in the Old Testament responded to a person who once called out for help, "If the Lord does not help you, where can I find help for you?  From the threshing floor?  From the winepress?"

Our King and Savior, Jesus Christ, is Himself Help and Hope.  The ancient king was right.  Apart from Jesus Christ, "....where can I find help for you?"

Father, in Jesus' Name, perfect Help and Hope are You.  Amen.

When Peter, an 18 year old Norwegian, "heard the call to evangelize China, on that day he not only emptied his wallet into the collection plate, but included a small note with the words, 'and my life.'"
Hebrews 12:2

'MY PORTION"

"I cried out to Thee, O Lord; I said Thou art my refuge, my portion in the land of the living."  (Psalm 142:5, NASB, 1977 ed.)

"Portion," can mean, "inheritance," that which is mine, in this case, a gift.

Sixty-one years ago I summed up a week of Bible School with third grade boys this way:  "God's best gift to us is Himself in Jesus."  Nothing has changed.

Father, in Jesus' Name, I am glad that You are my, "portion."  Amen.

"A VANISHING POINT"

"The Lord will complete that which concerns me; Thy lovingkindness, O Lord, is everlasting; Do not forsake the works of Thy hands."  (Psalm 138:8, NASB, 1977 ed.)

According to Strong's, the Hebrew Word for, "everlasting," here has the idea of, "a vanishing point," or, "out of mind."  And, it is right at that, "vanishing point," where faith and trust alone carrys us.

More and more I am experiencing the, "vanishing point," of Jesus Christ in my life.  I think I have understood some of what we are supposed to understand, but I am realizing more and more that there comes, "a vanishing point," dimension where I just have to say to our Lord Jesus Christ what Wesley penned, "lost in wonder, love, and praise.

Father, in Jesus' Name, I thank You for that, "vanishing point," of Who You Are.  Amen.

When Peter, an 18 year old Norwegian, "heard the call to evangelize China, on that day he not only emptied his wallet into the collection plate, but included a small note with the words, 'and my life.'"

LET YOUR SPIRIT PRAY

"For if I pray in tongues, my spirit is praying, but I don't understand what I am saying."  (1 Corinthians 14:14, NLT)

The naysayers can exegete this passage all they want.  They can say the Greek text says this or that.  They say that this is not for today, and that this gift passed into oblivion at the end of the First Century AD.

The truth about their rejection?  "....but I don't understand what I am saying."  Anyone who is so proud to think that the greatest relationship in Jesus Christ is his understanding just has not embraced the meaning of Romans 10:10, "For with the heart one believes...."  Let your heart believe.

Father, in Jesus' Name, Thank You.  Amen.
