"Lead the Way For Others"

"Be kindly affectionate to one another with brotherly love, in honor giving preference to one another...." (Romans 12:10)

Or, "Be tenderly loving."  The next time someone irritates you, obey that.

The word translated, "preference," means, "to lead the way for others."  The idea also includes deference, but deference, in all practicality for many, is just some sort of passive giving over to others.  "To lead the way for others," is to be active.  It is using our gifts to be what our Lord Jesus said we are, "You are the light of the world."  I wonder what our particular environs would be like if we obeyed our text unequivocally.

The command in our text today is, "to lead the way for others," all  the "others."  It would have an interesting effect on evangelism.  Instead of always trying to instruct others in the way of salvation, just "lead the way for others"-------------------- to Jesus Christ, into His Kingdom.

Father, in Jesus' Name, help me to be less instructive and more, "lead the way for others."  Amen.

Whose Faith Do You Desire, Theirs or His?

"So faith comes from hearing, and hearing by the word (plural of, rhema) of Christ."  (Romans 10:17, NASB)

A better translation is, "So the faith comes from hearing, and hearing by the words (reematos) of Christ."  There are many "faiths" out there today, just waiting to devour some unsuspecting Believer.  The only safeguard is, "the words of Christ."

You have probably heard much teaching over the years concerning the difference between Logos and Rhema.  There is really little difference.  One is the Word of God; the other are, "the words of God."  John 3:34 says, "For He whom God has sent speaks the words (rhema) of God."  The Logos is Jesus Christ, the "Word of God," the Heart, Will, Purpose, Father's expression extended to you.  Jesus is the Only One of Whom it is written, "In the beginning was the Logos, and the Logos was with God, and the Logos was God," that is, from the beginning, not in time, but in the Eternal, the Infinite.  The, "Rhema of Christ," in our text is the Words of the Logos.

Many take the Rhema teaching and suit it to their own purposes, which is just to take people away from the Bible and accept some particular "rhema word" to fit their, "Listen to me; I have a fresh word from God."  Beware!  There is only one Word of God----- Jesus Christ.  Whatever words I use in life are really quite meaningless if they do not point people to, or bring people to Jesus Christ.  Remember this?--- "If you abide in Me, and My words (yes, it is, rhema) abide in you, you will ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you."  This does not come from sending your tithes and offerings to some TV "rhema" person.  Faith, that is, "the faith of Jesus Christ," and the, "it shall be done for you," comes from one source and once source only, "hearing the reematos of Christ."

"Thought for the day:"  If you want the faith of which we are speaking, turn off the television and------------------------------ Get out that Bible!

Father, in Jesus' Name, help me to abide, "in the truth." Amen.

Be Sure to Read Our Blog on Rising Tide of Anti-Semitism in the US

"Now faith is the assurance (the confirmation, the title deed) of the things [we] hope for, being the proof of things [we] do not see and the conviction of their reality [faith perceiving as real fact what is not revealed to the senses]." (Hebrews 11:1, Amplified Bible)

My reading this morning had me in Hebrews 11.  What Follower of Jesus Christ is not familiar with this text?  Yet so many do not grasp the reality of our text, that the "
proof" of faith is our believing, our accepting, and, the refusal to accept anyone or anything else other than the testimony of, the "God-Breathed" Word.

I repeat, Faith is accepting the "
God-Breathed" Word, and refusal to believe anyone or anything else.  If my life is so lived, it will be, according to Hebrews 11, the best, "evidence," the best, "assurance," that God is, and a rewarder of those who "earnestly and diligently seek Him."  Our faith (Can we accept this?)-- our faith is, "the proof."  The speculations of, "science falsely so-called," the reprobates on MSNBC and "The View" can all keep talking and arguing. It is nothing but empty stupidity as far as the Living Triune God is concerned.  In various translations, Proverbs 10:8 says, "The wise in heart will accept and obey commandments," or, "If you have good sense, you will listen and obey, but the foolish of lips, a chattering fool, a babbling fool, a prating fool, a talkative fool, will fall headlong, be ruined."

It's our choice today; whom and what will we believe?
Your faith in Jesus Christ and His Words is all the proof you need to know the truth and unshakable firm foundation of the Word of God.  This is a scary thought, but true.  You and I control how our environment affects our life today----------- by our faith.  Now don't get all super spiritual with me.  That religious spirit wants to say, "Oh, no, no, it has nothing to do with me.  It is all God."  Well, then I guess Hebrews 11 was not inspired, nor 1 John 5:4--- "For whatever is born of God overcomes the world.  And this is the victory that has overcome the world----- our faith."

I am an Armenian Calvinist, that is, I believe that Jesus Christ rules
the universe "
by the world of His power"--------------- but, I control whether Jesus and His Words rule in me.  It is my choice, my obedience, my surrendering to His purposes which will determine today and always who controls my thinking, my life-------------- my victory.  "....This is the victory that conquers the world, even our faith."

Father, in Jesus' Name, my faith chooses You and Your Word.  Amen.

He is Not Here; For He is Risen------- AS HE SAID!"

"After the Sabbath, at dawn on the first day of the week, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary went to look at the tomb." (Mt. 28:1)

I have checked a fair number of commentaries and none suggest that the women came with any expectancy other than to anoint the body of a dead, dear friend and teacher.  Had Jesus died and the resurrection had not followed, that is all history would affirm of Him, nice, admirable teacher.  To many defeated personages in the world today, Jesus is not the risen, victorious Christ.  It is more like, "It was nice while it lasted."  Now, with dreams  shattered, their religion is just one of going, "to look at the tomb."  Yet time and again Jesus told His Followers of His impending death and resurrection.  Yet all they would hear was, "....The Son of Man will be handed over to be crucified." It happened; now all that was left was to go---------------------- "to look at the tomb."

If Jesus Christ and His Words are living and abiding in you and me, we are as Paul said, "knowing that from the Lord you will receive the reward of the inheritance; for you serve the Lord Christ."  This is that "living hope," which was so lacking in the disciples at the time of our text, about which Peter would later write.  He could exhorts us to, "Bear in mind that our Lord's patience means salvation," because he witnessed what, amidst the doubts and despair of his fellow disciples, the angel announced in triumphant victory-- "He is not here: for he is risen, as He said.  Come and see the place where the Lord lay."

When "doubts and fears assail," it is only the, "As He Said,"  in Holy Spirit's Power, Who will empower us to go to the "tomb" expecting that resurrection life has triumphed.  Jesus is always very clear about the battles of life---- "In the world you will have tribulation; but" (and I'm paraphrasing here) don't worry about it; "I have overcome the world."  Accept this; believe this, and the only "tomb" you will be looking at is, "....He is risen (just) "as He said."

Father, in Jesus' Name, if I ever go "to look at the tomb," remind me to instead, "run...the race that is set before [me], looking unto Jesus."  Amen.
