Reset: "The World's Three Great Religions"- Father, Son, and Holy Spirit

"They covet fields and take them by violence, also houses and seize them.  So they oppress a man and his house, a man and his inheritance." (Micah 2:2)

Our text is a perfect description of Islam.  Yet American Presidents, pundits, people who love to speak of progressivism, speak of Islam as one of "the world's three great religions."  By the way, these "open-minded," progressive, liberal opportunists are caught in their own contradiction.  How can you be broadminded and exclude Hinduism and Buddhism?  Beware; individuals who speak of "the world's three great religions" know nothing of life in Jesus Christ.  They reveal that religion is window dressing to them, not, "I and the way, the truth, and the life. No man comes to the Father, but by Me. "

Let's forget the followers of Muhammad and Jesus for a moment.  Just consider the men.  Muhammad put to the sword all who would not "submit" to him.  But instead of a raging warmonger, Jesus came to, "Lay down My life for the sheep....No one takes it from me, but I lay it down of Myself."  The Living Triune God demonstrated His love in giving as opposed to taking, forgiving as opposed to cutting of hands and heads.

The world has had a very clear choice for fourteen hundred years, Muhammad, who came, "only to steal, and to kill, and to destroy," or Jesus, Who, "came that they might have life, and...might have it more abundantly"---------------------------------------- Any questions?

Father, in Jesus' Name, release the prophets in your Church.  Amen.

No Cafeteria Religion Here

"Then the man of lawlessness will be revealed, but the Lord Jesus will kill him with the breath of his mouth and destroy him by the splendor of his coming." (2 Thessalonians 2:8, NLT)

Whoa, a little violence here.  But there's more.  This, "
lawless one...will use every kind of evil deception to fool those on their way to destruction, because they refuse to love and accept the truth that would save them."  A lawless person is opposite of Jesus Christ.  "I came to do the will of Him Who sent Me."

We are now in a heated debate in America over illegal (def. "contrary to, or forbidden by law") immigration.  The debate is really between law and lawless.  Have there been "bad" laws in human history?--- no doubt.  The procedure for changing law, however, is quite different from
ignoring law, which is, "lawlessness."  When men refuse to obey laws, they will manipulate laws to "obey" men.

The Bible teaches that lawlessness will increase more and more as the close of the age nears.  And, "
Then the man of lawlessness will be revealed." To put it in the vernacular, this, "lawlessness," will "assume human form."  The word translated, "lawlessness," in our text is the Greek word, "a-no-me-a," which means, "illegality, contempt and violation of law, iniquity, wickedness," the word from which we get "antinomianism," the "view that Christians are released by grace from the obligation of observing...law."

As you and I go about our daily lives, vote, conduct business, relate with people, philosophize at the water cooler, etc., I call you, along with me, to, "
examine yourselves as to whether you are in the faith...."  It is not the examination of some clever, prejudiced opinions which I have always held.  It is the examination of the "God-Breathed" Word.

Father, in Jesus' Name, keep me under law, and not use grace as an excuse for "
lawlessness."  Amen.

The King's Sovereignty Rules, But We Must Choose to Participate

"But Ruth replied, 'Don't urge me to leave you or to turn back from you.  Where you go I will go, and where you stay I will stay.  Your people will be my people and your God my God." (Ruth 1:16)

If you want to get a glimpse of God's sovereignty at work , look at the Book of Ruth.  Ruth is in the lineage of Our Lord Jesus Christ, but consider the scenario.  There is, "
famine in the land;" Elimelech takes his family to Moab, dies there along with his two sons, and only Naomi and the two daughters-in-law are left.  Then God blesses The Land, "by providing food for them;" so, Naomi leaves for home, Orpah and Ruth start to follow.  Naomi tells them it's no use to go with her; Ruth, however, won't have any of such talk and goes back with Ruth to Elimelech's and Naomi's homeland where Ruth meets Boaz, and the rest, as they say, is history--------------------- Salvation History.

What we see in the Book of Ruth is God "setting the stage."  The variable is the obedience of people on that "stage."  God's way seems to be what we see in Isaiah, "
Whom shall I send," and He will send somebody, of that there is no doubt.  The only variable is----------- who.   I have no doubt that if Ruth had chosen to stay in Moab, God would have simply found someone else to be in the Lineage of the Christ.  A frightening reality in the economy of God is revealed in the Bible------ Jesus Christ invites all humanity.  Who responds is another matter.

In Jesus' parable of the, "
Great Supper," you will recall that when people began to make excuses as to why they could not participate, Jesus said, "Then the master of the house, being angry, said to his servant,'Go out quickly into the streets and lanes of the city, and bring in here the poor and the maimed and the lame and the blind....Compel them to come in, that my house may be filed.'"  And, His House will be filled, you can be sure of that.  The question which still remains, however--------------------------------- who will be there?

Father, in Jesus' Name, Thank You for the invitation to Your, "
Great Supper."  Amen.

Some Reflections on Judges

The Spirit of the LORD came upon him, and he judged Israel.  He went out to war...." (Judges 3:10)

Over the weekend I finished the Book of Judges.  "
He judged....He went...to war."  The Blessed Trinity, "raised up judges who delivered them out of the hand of those who plundered them," warrior judges who judged by, "He went out to war," by leading the people to occupy all that the Word of God had given them.

The word for, "
judged," in our text means, "to pronounce sentence; by implication, to vindicate or punish; by extension, to govern."  In Judges we read of one great warrior/judge after another, Othniel, Shamgar, Gideon, Samson.  They did not "govern" or "judge" as we think of those terms today.  They judged by demonstrating what the Covenant People were created to be.  There lives were the judgment on Israel.

The problem with Christendom throughout the centuries is that people have taken those who were supposed to be examples and turned them into statues, heroes, not to disciple us, but to intimidate us.  We honor and revere them, but we can never be like them.  This is heretical, deistic, always admiring great personages, supporting their "great ministries," but always somebody else doing what we all have been created to participate in.

There is another thing which far too many overlook in the lives of the great warriors of the Bible.  They were never meant to be examples of
American "rugged individualism!"  Gideon and the three hundred did not defeat the Midianites on their own. They simply
commenced the battle.      Then, "the men of Israel gathered together from Naphtali, Asher, and all Manasseh, and pursued the Midianites" (7:23).  Yet most "Bible teachers" I have heard over the years give you the impression that these warriors were some sort of "special" supermen; even ministries try to get money from you, calling you "The Three Hundred!"

Have nothing to do with this.  The Bible teaches Kingdom, Church, the Covenant People of the Living Lord Jesus Christ, needing one another, depending on and encouraging the "person next to you" to join you in the fight.  David just
started the battle by killing the giant.  He did not take on the whole Philistine army by himself.  Taking courage from David's example, the rest of the army defeated the enemy.

Jesus calls people to a life of, "
I am in My Father, and you in Me, and I in you;" not, "You can do anything you put your mind to---------- on your own!"  Take heart today, dear Fellow Warrior.  I am with you, so are the others around you, even the, "least of these My brethren ."  Take courage from the Othniels, the Shamgars, the Gideons, the Samsons, the Davids, but never think for a moment you will ever win the war alone.  Who would want to live with that hanging over their heads?!?!?

Father, in Jesus' Name, help me to see want You design to do in me, in Your Church, in Your Kingdom, with Your People.  Amen.

"Deliver [America] From Bloodguiltiness, O God"

"Have mercy upon me, O God, according to thy lovingkindness: according to the multitude of thy tender mercies blot out my transgressions." (Psalm 51:1, KJV)

I prayed Psalm 51 this morning, as I do quite regularly.  For example, I pray, "
Purge me 'in the Blood of Jesus' and I shall be clean; wash me 'in the Blood of Jesus' and I shall be whiter than snow."  But today, after reading an article about Obama's Supreme Court nominee, I prayed Psalm 51 for America.

I have been following the present process of the next US Supreme
Court nominee, Elena Kagan, another advocate of the murder of the unborn as a reproductive right.  She once worked for Justice Thurgood Marshall, one of the most activist jurists in Supreme Court history.  She has referred to Marshall as, "the greatest lawyer of the 20th century."  Here is an example of this "greatest lawyer."  He once wrote in a dissenting High Court opinion on abortion, "An unwanted child may be disruptive and destructive of the life of any woman."  I cannot recall ever reading such a pit-of-Hell description of abortion.  The abortionists murder an unborn child so that the very child they have murdered will not be a "disruptive and destructive" force in their self- centered, self indulgent lives.  Make no mistake; the issue of rape, incest, health of the mother, are the least of their concerns.  What
is of their concern is that little--------------- "disruptive and destructive." I I did not always believe this, I must admit.  But decades ago the Lord Jesus gave me a look into the whole abortion issue, and I saw an evil which I simply cannot describe.  Psalm 51:14 says, "Deliver me from bloodguiltiness, O God...."  America has already killed more people than Hitler and Stalin combined.

Now Obama is attempting to continue in the same philosophy of life as Thurgood Marshal, to put on the Supreme Court of the United States of America a woman who holds to Marshal's and Obama's view of the "disruptive and destructive" little lives who were, as my Dad use to call babies, "candidates for Eternity."  What an obvious difference between a Kingdom of Light person and a Kingdom of Darkness person.

America, indeed, most of the nations of the world have the blood of millions and millions of babies on their hands.  God will not allow this to go unpunished.  "
Against thee, thee only, have I sinned, and done this evil in thy sight: that thou mightest be justified when thou speakest, and be clear when thou judgest."  If I may speak of feelings here; the cleansing of confession, the confession which seeks the absolution of sin in the Blood of Jesus, by our High Priest, Jesus Christ, is unsurpassed.  Oh, America, America!

Father, in Jesus' Name, for the years I was silent, "
deliver me from bloodguiltiness...."  Amen.
