"Your Shield...."

"His truth shall be your shield and buckler."  (Psalm 91:4c)

What Bonhoeffer called, "Cheap grace," has taught, or greatly implied over the last 50+ years, that the promises are ours regardless.  The Bible teaches, however, "If My People...," and, "Whoever hears These Words of Mine, and does them...."

"His truth," is His Words, as in, "Thy Word is Truth."  If humanity wants the Divine, "shield and buckler," the command is to, "....hear[] Theses Words of Mine (Jesus) and do[] them."

Father, in Jesus' Name, thank You for such glorious promises.  Amen.

Jesus' Work Jesus' Way

"....I urged you...[to] instruct men not to teach strange doctrines,...which give rise to mere speculation rather than furthering the administration of God...."  (1 Timothy 1, NASB)

The Word for, "administration," in the Interlinear Greek is, "management of a household, stewardship."  One translation says, "plan."   

The Bible teaches that the Church, "the Household of Faith," is the People of Jesus Christ, "Living Stones," not the brick and mortar on First Street.  "But Christ was faithful as a Son over His house--- whose house we are...."  

And what is our "calling?"  We are to be about, "furthering the administration/plan of God," in Jesus Christ for His House.  I don't fully understand this, but as I read it today, it sure tasted good.

Father, in Jesus' Name, I pray that my life be exemplary of, "furthering the administration of [You]."  Amen.

"Yours Only"

"My mouth shall tell of Your righteousness and Your salvation all the day....I will make mention of Your righteousness, of Yours only....I declare Your strength to this generation, Your power to everyone who is to come."  (Psalm 71)

In this day when so much of Christendom preaches, teaches, writes books, testifies of me and mine, I pray that I may do our text more faithfully.  When our life in Jesus Christ Himself is, "Yours only," our life is always better. 

Father, in Jesus' Name, the prayer of Psalm 71 be my prayer---- always.  Amen.

Stay "Hydrated"

"….All drank the same spiritual drink.  For they were drinking of that  spiritual Rock which followed them;  and the Rock was Christ."  (1 Corinthians 10:4)

Our "Following Rock" has always been mankind's, "spiritual drink."  Apart from Jesus Christ there is nothing but dehydration.

Father, in Jesus' Name, thank You that because of the Cross, You are in me.  Amen.
