Humanism, Notwithstanding

"He has shown His people the power of His works, giving them the lands of other nations." (Psalm 111:6, NIV)

Apparently our Lord Jesus Christ, King of the Universe, does not know this is politically incorrect, just not nice.  But then, again, I guess He can do whatever He does.  A friend of mine once quipped, "God has this problem: He thinks He's God."

But lest the politically correct among us get all self righteous, which is their MO, I repeat that if you go back far enough, every people group has taken something from someone, yes, Africans, Arabs, Latinos/Hispanics, Native Americans, Catholics, Protestants, etc., etc.   The problem with the humanists is that they always claim the moral "high ground." It can't be sin; there is some other culprit out there.  Furthermore, they make judgments on the Blessed Trinity as to how He has dealt with humanity over the millennia, e.g, His militarism, judging and rejecting those who do not follow His Ways, the old, "If God is God, why..............?  Humanists are driven by one motivation: Hatred of God.

I was in the Congressional Helsinki Commission (OSCE) hearing yesterday (I ran into traffic that even for DC was unbelievable).  One of the presenters shared that "the crime of genocide and war crimes already can be prosecuted, under certain conditions, against not only Americans but also aliens."  His organization tracks not only current "Crimes against humanity," but also Bosnian War Criminals, even those few remaining Nazi War Criminals!  Our humanist-driven Democrats are doing everything they can to ignore this, even stop this.  It's not nice; didn't you know that?!?  The rule of law to them is changing "illegal" to "undocumented."  Such humanist foolishness is taking over the United States of America, one generation at a time.

"[Jesus] has shown the people the power of His works...."  One way is, "....giving them the lands of other nations."  CNN, MSNBC and the "bleeding hearts" hate this Biblical Theology. Humanist do not like the reality that, "The earth is the Lord's...."  When Jesus gave the Land of Israel to the descendants of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, it was occupied by the Canaanites.  He changed that.  Our Lord Jesus can do whatever He pleases.  Try this:  "Now I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away (talk about, 'giving them...lands of other nations'!)....Then I saw the holy city, New Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God prepared as a bride adorned for her husband....God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor cryingThere shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away."  I'll take Jesus' Words to any others' anytime.

Father, in Jesus' Name, in all the clamor of the world, I believe You.  Amen.

"He Remembers"

"He remembers His covenant forever, the word which He commanded, for a thousand generations...."  (Psalm 105:8)

Our Wonderful, "Forever," God.  "His covenant," is, "His Word," period.  Can we say that Jesus is, not "a man of his word," rather, "The Man of His Word"?  And remember, "Jesus remembers His.... Word...for a thousand generation," which is another way of saying, "forever."

I found myself saying over and over to our Lord today, "I just don't understand."  I was not talking about my life, what's going on in the US and around the world, the "whys" of people who are having difficulty with liking how our Lord Jesus Christ "does things."  I was talking about the Universe, life on Planet Earth, how He works in history, is working now.  Maybe after all these years I am in a "good place."  There is so much about life which I do not understand, yet I not only accept that, but glory in it.  I know that, "The earth is the Lord's and the fullness thereof, the world and they who dwell in it," and rejoice in Him, in Father, Son Jesus and Holy Spirit.

I pray you are "there" also.  It's not a daffy cop out of life.  Perhaps that, "peace which passes understanding," is really the, "peace," of which the Holy Spirit speaks, "He," viz., Jesus, "is our Peace."  It's not a peace of having figured everything out, nor having "whys" answered.  It is the, "Peace," of Being, His Being in our being.  The hymn writer was not "casting his fate to the win" when he penned, "It is enough that Jesus died, and that He died for me."  His enough-ness was Jesus.  Is yours?

"The Blessed Trinity remembers...."  It is a classic understatement.  He says in His Words elsewhere, "Can a woman forget her nursing child, and not have c0mpassion on the son of her wombSurely they may forget, yet I will not forget you."  Do you know what we as the Church need a renewal in?  We need to have a renewal in a remembering "anointing," a remembering of our text, Jesus' Words, Jesus' Faithfulness, that Jesus is the One Who eternally, "....remembers His covenant.., the Word which He commanded, for a thousand generations."  Maybe Jesus is saying to those who will listen, "I've got this."

Father, in Jesus' Name, I like it that I just stand in awe of You, that I can be as Isaac, who went out into the field in the evening to, "meditate."  Glorious peace.  Amen.

* Heading to DC tomorrow morning early to pray in the US Congressional Commission on Security and Cooperation in Europe, aka, The Helsinki Commission, and OSCE, as well as the Supreme Court and White House.
* If there would be some interested in a get together to talk about "current events" before the coming US elections, I could arrange a meeting place and time.

"It's Not Over 'Til It's Over"

"....to the intent that now the manifold wisdom of God might be made known by the Church to the principalities and powers in the heavenly places."  (Ephesians 3:10)

Here are some prayer requests from Open Doors for the month of September:
UZBEKISTAN:            Pray for the Church of Uzbekistan.  They are facing defamation in the media                                                 in their country.
ARGENTINA:              Pray for members of a church who are hated by their community and                                                             regularly experience vandalism and theft.
NORTH KOREA:        Pray for a North Korean church whose pastor was murdered.
NORTH NIGERIA:     Pray for Christians who are suffering from persistent violence.
CENTRAL AFRICA:   Pray for Christians persecuted for leaving the Orthodox Church, Islam, or                                                     traditional beliefs.
COLUMBIA:                Pray for pastors of Buenaventura as they try to win back their country from                                                 criminals controlling the land.
SUDAN:                        Pray for two Sudanese pastors who are facing the death penalty for alleged                                                 crimes.

Notice that our text tells us, "....the manifest wisdom of God," is, "known by the Church...."  All the persecution referred to above is due to, "....the manifest wisdom of God...known by the Church to the principalities and powers in heavenly places...," or, "to the rulers and authorities in the heavenly realms" (NIV).  History reveals this war.  The Bible tells us that the Enemy has attempted to destroy King Jesus, Jesus' Church, Jesus' Kingdom, Israel ever since the beginning.  "....The manifold wisdom of God..," which the Church reveals, angers the Enemy greatly.

"A great sign appeared in heaven: a woman clothed with the sun....The dragon stood in front of the woman who was about to give birth, so that it might devour her child the moment he was bornShe gave birth to a son, a male child, who 'will rule all the nations with an iron scepter'....Then war broke out in heavenMichael and his angels fought against the dragon, and the dragon and his angels fought backBut he was not strong enough, and they lost their place in heaven The great dragon was hurled down-- that great dragon was hurled down-- that ancient serpent called the devil, or Satan, who leads the whole world astray."

I don't attempt to "figure out" all of this.  But man's sojourn on this planet has been a sojourn of war, and, it will end in war, a final cataclysmic battle in which Jesus, "The Word of God," Jesus, "King of kings and Lord of lords," will triumph in the inevitable outcome of His victory, "through (the word means, 'to get us to the other side') the Blood of His Cross."  You and I, as a part of Jesus' Church, are, "the light of the world," and, "the salt of the earth."  We continue to, "ma[k]e known to the rulers and authorities in the heavenly realms," and to humanity, "the manifold wisdom of God," His love, purposes, judgment and forgiveness.  Go in Jesus the rest of this day and continue to, "....make known...."

Father, in Jesus' Name, thank You for including me in all of this.  Amen.
