'NO ONE KNOWS ANYTHING"

"....The Kingdom of God does not come with observation...."  (Luke 17:20c)

A German Quantum Physicist in the 1930s came to the conclusion that "no one knows anything.  We live in eternal uncertainty."  It seems to me that Solomon also came to this conclusion near the end of his earthly sojourn.

The older I get I am closer to, "no one knows anything."  I do not, however, fret about it.  Jesus Christ is my Certainty.

Father, in Jesus' Name, You are my Eternal Certainty.  Amen.

When Peter, an 18 year old Norwegian, "heard the call to evangelize China, on that day he not only emptied his wallet into the collection plate, but included a small note with the words, 'and my life.'"

"THIS MAN RECEIVES SINNERS...."

"And the Pharisees and scribes complained, saying, 'This Man receives sinners and eats with them.'"  (Luke 15:2)

I know I have written about our text before, and I know I repeat myself.  I remember thinking, however, a long time ago that every time I read the Bible, God repeats Himself.

Our text cannot be surpassed in the revelation of the love of our Savior and King, Jesus Christ.  If this were not Who Jesus is, I would be "of all men most miserable."  But because the Living Triune God, "....receives sinners and eats with them..," I'm in the, "Household of Faith," enjoying the feast.

Father, in Jesus' Name, I am eternally thankful that You are He Who, "....receives sinners and eats with them."  Amen.

FOLLOW-UP TO THE "QUEEN OF HEAVEN" DECEPTION

"Though the fig tree does not bud and there are no grapes on the vines, though the olive crop fails and the fields produce no foodthough there are no sheep in the pen and no cattle in the stalls, yet I will rejoice in the Lord, I will be joyful in God my Savior.  The Sovereign Lord is my Strength...."  (Habakkuk 3:17-19a, NIV)

It was no coincidence that today's text was my regular reading in the "Minor Prophets."  Will you join me in this confession to our King Jesus?

Father, in Jesus' Name, by Your Grace and Mercy alone, I so confess.  Amen.

"I'D RATHER HAVE JESUS THAN.............."

"But we will certainly do whatever has gone out of our own mouth, to burn incense to the queen of heaven and pour out drink offerings to heras we have done....For then we had plenty of food, were well-off, and saw no trouble.  But since we stopped..., we have lacked everything...."  (From Jeremiah 44:17 & 18)

"Well-off"---- really?!?  I have known people who admitted to succumbing to this deception.

God didn't come through for them, so they burned, "....incense to the queen of heaven." The reason was the same as those in our text.  They concluded that things were "better" before they gave up all to follow Jesus.

Now I know you are probably thinking, "I would never do that."  And I so pray.  I remind us all, moreover, that no matter what may happen to us, "....what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul?"

There is an old song, "I'd Rather Have Jesus."  I would encourage you to "Google it" and pray you come to the same conclusion as the song writer.

Father, in Jesus' Name, I thank You, King of Heaven and Earth, that You are my everything.  Amen.
