“What Can The Righteous Do?”

"In the Lord [Jesus Christ] I put my trust; how can you say, 'Flee as a bird to your mountain?'...When the foundations are destroyed; what can the righteous do?"  (Psalm 11:1 & 3)

Psalm 11:1 is so very applicable to the global confusion.  Basically, the human system is telling us exactly what the psalmist describes, "Flee...."  And, verse 3, as I have pointed out before, is not a question; it states a fact, "For (or, 'when') the foundations (Strong's says, 'foundation, stay of society') are destroyed ('thrown down'), what can the righteous do?"

The only "answer" which came to me today is from Isaiah 58:12, "Those from among you shall build the old waste places; you shall raise up the age-old foundations; and you will be called the repairer of the breach, the restorer of the streets in which to dwell."

Father, in Jesus' Name, so be it.  Amen

“If You Will Receive....”

"My son, if you will receive my Words.., then you will discern the fear of the Lord and discover the knowledge of God."  (Proverbs 2)

Notice that discernment and knowledge are in, "receive My Words."  There is no peace nor victory over anxiety in the "present distress," which has enveloped the earth, apart from, "My son, if you will receive My Words."

Here is what I invite you to do.  Now you know that Jesus is, "The Word of God," and I'm sure you are familiar with, "Feed on the Word."  Well, think of this when you read these Words in John 6:51: "I am the Living Bread which came down out of Heaven; if anyone eats of this Bread, he shall live forever; and the bread that I shall give is My Flesh, which I shall give for the life of the world."

Father, in Jesus Name, Your Words are, " more to be desired than...much fine gold."  Amen.

New "Revelation" From The Psalms

"Praise the Lord.  Praise the Lord my soul.  I will praise the Lord all my life; I will sing praise to my God as long as I live.  Do not put your trust...in human beings."  (Psalm 146:1-3, NIV)

I have probably mentioned this before, but after almost twenty years of writing these devotionals, what does one expect?  At any rate, the last five Psalms are similar to Ecclesiastes', "the conclusion of the matter is...."

For the Psalms, it is literally, "Hallelu Yah.  Hallelu Yah," or, "Praise the Lord."  It is a sort of, "When-all-is-said-and-done," life directive.  The Interlinear says that, "Hallelu Yah," means to, "be boastful, to shine," as Philippians 2:15 declares, "shine as lights in the world."  Moreover, Psalm 34:2 declares, "My soul shall make its boast in the Lord...."  The Hebrew Word for, "boast," here is the same Word translated, "praise," in Psalm 146.

Then we come to the last part of today's text says, "Do not put your trust...in human beings," which is exactly what the majority of the world's population is doing in this very hour.  The key Word here is, "trust."  In whom/what is our fundamental (first?) trust?  May none of us be as the king of Israel who, "....did not seek help from the Lord, but only the physicians."

The underlying, fundamental, prioritized living in Jesus Christ in these tumultuous days is, "Praise, shine forth, "....make [our] boast in the Lord [Jesus Christ]."  As Jesus said to the rich, young man, "Do this and you will live."

Father, in Jesus' Name, "HALLELUJAH!"  Amen.

When Peter, an 18 year old Norwegian, "heard the call to evangelize China, on that day he not only emptied his wallet into the collection plate, but included a small note with the words, 'and my life.'"
