'NO ONE PAID ATTENTION"

"And when midday was past, they prophesied until the time of the offering of the evening sacrifice.  But there was no voice; no one answered, no one paid attention."  (1 Kings 18:29)

Just as the Baal worshippers of millennia ago, so too are the slaves of Islam, Hinduism, Buddhism, etc. "....no voice; no one answered, no one paid attention."

Indeed, the second part of our text is the loneliness of empty humanity.  After all the scientific advancements, after all the psychology, dreams, schemes, etc. with which man attempts to make life meaningful, all that they find is, "....there was no voice; no one answered, no one paid attention."

For us who Follow Jesus Christ and in whom Jesus Christ lives and reigns, we have His voice, His answer, His attention.  I encourage you that as you read His Words you look for this: Jesus' voice, Jesus' answer, and Jesus' attention.  This permeates Sacred Writ.

Father, in Jesus' Name, What a Wonderful God You Are.  Amen.

"THE GOD OF ALL COMFORT"

"Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, Who comforts us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort those who are in trouble, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God."  (2 Corinthians 1:3, 4)

"The...God of all comfort...."  Comfort is not new to the New Testament age.  Jeremiah 31:13b tells us, "....I will turn their mourning into gladness; I will give them comfort and joy instead of sorrow." (NIV)

Our Living Triune God comes to live in those who surrender their lives to Jesus in His Majesty, the Holy Spirit, Who He calls, "The Comforter."  You're covered today, my friend.

Father, in Jesus' Name, You so care for Your Children.  Amen.

"DO YOU BELIEVE THIS?"

"But Christ has indeed been raised from the dead, the firstfruits of those who have fallen asleep."  (1 Corinthians 15:20)

We were visiting our daughter, Jill, and her family this past week, and came back to news that a friend and ex parishioner of ours died suddenly over the weekend.  It is sad and very shocking, a terrible loss to me.

Today's text, however, rings through the ages.  "The Word of God," tells us that Jesus was the first to arise from the dead, never to die again.  And so it is with all who trust in Jesus Christ.  Jesus' Seconding Appearing is called the, "blessed hope," and just so is the reality of His Followers' resurrection.  "Jesus said to her, 'I am the resurrection, and the life.  He who believes in Me, though he were dead, yet shall he live.  And whoever lives and believes in Me shall never die.'"  

Remember:  "For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trumpet of God.  And the dead in Christ will rise first.  Then we who are alive...shall be caught up together with them....We shall always be with the Lord."

Father, in Jesus' Name, GLORY!  Amen.
