'TO HIM WHO MADE THE GREAT LIGHTS"

"Oh, give thanks...to Him who made great lights, for His mercy endures forever---"  (Psalm 136:7)

This should be enough to stop the worries/concerns/anxieties of life.

Look up and consider the, "great lights;" contemplate.  Our King and Savior, Jesus Christ, put them there.  Jesus says, "I am the Good Shepherd," and since He is, "....I shall not want (lack)."

Father, in Jesus' Name, thank you that Your, "....mercy endures forever."  Amen.

GOD'S HATRED OF SIN IN MANIFEST ON THE CROSS

"Then he released Barabbas to them; and when he had scourged Jesus, he delivered Him to be crucified." (Matthew 27:26)

There have been times over the years when I have read of the stoning and the general "putting to death" in the Bible, I have cringed. 

As I read Isaiah 53 and Matthew 27 today, however, I realized again that neither I, nor anyone else, hates sin the way the Living Triune God hates sin.  Jesus bore the death penalty of the Bible which was carried out in all the stoning and putting to death of which we read.  The Cross is God's "attitude" toward sin.  Our King and Savior, Jesus Christ, took all of those death penalties, as the Bible says, "in His own Body on the tree."  

All I can say is what the song writer penned, "Upon that cross of Jesus mine eyes at times can see, the very dying form of one Who suffered there for me."  Galatians 3 says, "Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law, having become a curse for us...."  The only reason I am not under Heaven's death penalty is that Jesus took the death penalty for me. (Isaiah 53 & Matthew 27)

Father, in Jesus' Name, "Jesus paid it all, all to Him I owe, sin had left a crimson stain, He washed it white as snow."  Thank You.  Amen.

"DRINK FOR IT, ALL OF YOU"

"But I say to you, I will not drink of this fruit of the vine from now on until that day when I drink it new with you in My Father's Kingdom."  (Matthew 26:29)

Transubstantiation, Consubstantiation, or whatever-- I gladly respond to, "Take, eat; this is My body.  Then He took the cup, and gave thanks and gave it to them, saying, 'Drink from it, all of you.'"

I just know that Jesus Christ came to live in this mortal body when I was a little child.  On that day, I receive Jesus' Resurrection Life, Eternal Life.  As the old hymn says, "I am my Lord's and He is mine.  I "feed on Him" daily.

Father, in Jesus' Name, I so look forward to drinking, "of this fruit of the vine..," with You in "That Day."  Amen.

A GREAT GOSPEL EXPRESSION BY AN "UNBELIEVER"

"But had certain questions against him of their own superstition, and of one Jesus, which was dead, whom Paul affirmed to be alive."  (Acts 25:19, KJV)

I remember first reading our text in the KJV.  What an absolutely glorious Gospel Message.

This is a pagan official who knew little of Judaism and, as Galatians 2:16 states, "the Faith of Jesus."  Yet in those 13 Words, we have, "Gospel of the Kingdom," message, "....and of one Jesus, which was dead, whom Paul affirmed to be alive."  I'm in.

Father, in Jesus' Name, I affirm the same.  Amen.

BEWARE FALSE REVIVAL

"Cause my eyes to pass away from worthless things, and revive me in Your Words."  (Psalm 119:37)

I repeat:  The greatest revival which took place in my life was when our Lord Jesus Christ revived, "me in Your Words."  And, I add, the "revival fires" which sustains me.

I can say with certainty, that any talk of, "We are in revival," or, "Another revival is coming," that does not include individual Followers of Jesus regularly reading and obeying His Words is not only "idle talk," it is dangerously deceptive talk.

I pray that you are finding the only revival which the Living Triune God accepts: "Revive me in Your Words."

Father, in Jesus' Name, keep me from the deception of any "revival" talk which is not rooted, "....in Your Words."  Amen.

"DO NOT TAKE ADVANTAGE OF EACH OTHER"

"Do not take advantage of each other, but fear your God."  (Leviticus 25:17, NIV)

Again, we read a law for all peoples everywhere.  Don't be as those who take the attitude of the Old Testament as, "O, that's the Old Testament."  Our text is as much, "the Words of God," as John 3:16.

Our King Jesus personified our text and admonishes you and me to live out our text, all the time, to everyone one.

Father, in Jesus' Name, convict me if I ever, "....take advantage of..," anyone.  Amen.
