"The Wrath of Man" Is Christ's "Weapon"

"Surely the wrath of man shall praise Youwith the remainder of wrath You shall gird Yourself." (Psalm 76:10)

The NLT says, "Human defiance only enhances your glory, for you use it as a weapon."
What a mock of, "the wrath of man."  I know, I know.  Most Christians are too nice to think that God actually mocks, but He does.  Of course I don't think it is the mean, uncaring, hatred mock of unregenerate man, but it nevertheless is mocking.  I admit, this is difficult theology.  But consider the response of Father when, "the kings of the earth set themselves...against the LORD and against His Christ....He who sits in the heavens shall laugh; the LORD shall hold them in derision (mocks)."  All major world empires have done nothing throughout world history but to demonstrate what one commentary says of our text, "Man's wrath praises God by its futility before His power."

Our text is an affirmation of the The Reign and Power of King Jesus in that He takes what is left over of the wrath, mocking, sneering, and blasphemy of man and wears it like clothing.  In other words, Jesus Christ just wraps, "the wrath of man," around His shoulders.  He demonstrates that the wrath, the hatred of man cannot dissuade Him from His Lordship, nor from His love for man.  It is, "a weapon," in that Christ's wearing of man's wrath reveals to those whose hearts can receive it that, "the wrath of man," does nothing to diminish Who He Is.  In fact, "Human defiance only enhances Your glory."

Could there be something here for you and me to consider in our approach to degenerate humanity?  What if you and I used, "human defiance...as a weapon"?  How different would be the witness of the Church if our response to their wrath would be, I can handle it.  In fact, I'll just wear it, no arguing, no mean talk, no fighting back with their methods, but as those in whom Jesus Christ lives, we demonstrate a continual affirmation in us as Christ's People, "the wrath of man shall praise You."

Father, in Jesus' Name, I have worn too much of me.  I want to wear what You wear.  Amen.
