"On that day, when all the nations of the earth are gathered against her, I will make Jerusalem an immovable rock for all the nations. All who try to move it will injure themselves." (Zechariah 12:3, NIV)
Now this may not seem as an appropriate exegesis of our text, but humanity throughout history has learned this lesson about life: "All who try to move it will injure themselves."
While our text speaks of Jerusalem as, "....an immovable rock for all the nations", it also describes us attempting to move through life out of Jesus Christ. Life in Jesus does not attempt to move the Rock, but rather submits to and follows, "....that Rock that followed them, and that Rock was Christ.
I can say with absolute Biblical certainty that any life in Jesus Christ is also an, "immovable rock."
Father, in Jesus' Name, thank You that I am "immovable" in You. Amen.
When Peter, an 18 year old Norwegian, "heard the call to evangelize China, on that day he not only emptied his wallet into the collection plate, but included a small note with the words, 'and my life.'"
