"The Most Important Place On Earth"

"In the last days, the mountain of the Lord's house will be the highest of all- the most important place on earth It will be raised above the other hills, and people from all over the world will stream there to worship."  (Isaiah 2:2, NLT)

I'm reading the Major and Minor Prophets this quarter in the NLT, 1996 Edition.  It has some very interesting and enlightening translations of many passages; this is one of them.

Someone once wrote of Hegel, that Hegel believed "the course of history as an immutable fact."  There is some truth in this.  I won't repeat my river banks, currents, eddies, and backwashes theory, but the Living Triune God does have certain "things" about history which are "immutable fact."  Our text is one of them.

"....the most important place on earth," Mount Zion, "the Temple Mount."  Now I know you have probably read and/or heard much about, "In the last days,".. but I really can't speak with much "authority" about our text.  What I do know it that, as Billy Graham once said, "History is headed toward a dramatic climax."  In other words, You and I are going somewhere, on a journey, "headed" somewhere and with Somebody.

For the most part, the world hates Israel, the Jews, the Followers of Jesus.  Those who are aligned with Satan have been attempting our demise from the time of Abel.  Much of your "attacks" come from people who are aligned with him who is still seeking to do what he wanted to do to our Lord Jesus, "And the dragon stood before the woman who was about to give birth, so that when she gave birth he might devour her child."  He failed then and will continue to do so, for his name is "failure."

I don't believe our text speaks of "eternity."  Maybe it is sometime during the Millennium.  I believe in Eternity it will be something like "the Garden."  You and I and all who surrender our lives/wills to Jesus will be in continual fellowship, walking, "in the garden in the cool of the day."  We won't be at the back of some "temple" or auditorium in a huge crowd looking for/at Jesus.  In the mean time, however, it is good to keep in mind that no matter the course of world events, the constant state of "alert" under which the nation of Israel lives, the day is coming when, "....the mountain of the Lord's house will be...the most important place on earth."  I look forward to seeing you there.

Father, in Jesus' Name, I know less than I know.  I am thankful that You know all.  Amen.
