"When the foundations are being destroyed what can the righteous do?" (Psalm 11:3, NIV)
I have commented on our text before, but just as Jesus,' "compassions fail not," and, "....are new every morning," so too are the, "God-Breathed," Words. JFB says of our text, "Literally, 'The foundations (that is, of good order and law) will be destroyed, what has the righteous done (to sustain them)?' All his efforts have failed." Now let us be perfectly clear about what the Bible says, "Behold, I am laying in Zion a stone, a tested stone, a costly cornerstone for the foundation, firmly placed ('well-laid'). He who believes will not be disturbed (literally, 'be in a hurry')....For no man can lay a foundation other than the one which is laid, which is Jesus Christ." Or, "....The foundation, firmly placed ('well-laid')," is, "The Word/s of God."
When a society, a people group, a nation rejects and mocks, "The Foundation," there is absolutely nothing left to do to save it, nothing. The more I consider just the United States of America, let alone, the rest of the world, the more I realize that Psalm 11:3 is the epitaph of human history. Don't call me a pessimist. If one reads the Bible with Holy Spirit and not religious "glasses," they discover that things on this planet will not end well for the "optimist" and religious hype purveyors. It is really quite simple yet extremely sobering, Take away, "the Foundation," and we are "taken away."
Yes, and thank our Lord Jesus, that you and I are indeed, "more than conquerors." We are, "under the Shadow of the Almighty." Moreover, we can say with absolute certainty that Jesus Christ cannot be "destroyed." Mankind and nations do, however, destroy themselves when they reject Jesus, His Words, His Reign. The present chaos in the American political scene alone reveals the failure of American Christendom in setting down the, "sure (literally, 'well-laid') foundation." When people "remove" our Lord Jesus Christ form the pulpit, the songs, the "worship," missions, evangelism, His prayer from the schools, and replace the Name of Jesus with "god-talk," political correctness, "inclusive" theology, we then have the inevitable, "The foundations will be destroyed." The more I consider our text, the more I see a prophecy.
I am left with one question I ask of you and me today, "....what has the righteous done (to sustain them)?"

Father, in Jesus' Name, "have mercy on us and on the whole world." Amen.
When Peter, an 18 year old Norwegian, "heard the call to evangelize China, on that day he not only emptied his wallet into the collection plate, but included a small note with the words, 'and my life.'"
