"I Shall Not Be Shaken"

"....For the foundations have been destroyed; what has the righteous done....I have set the Lord always before me; because He is at my right hand, I shall not be shaken."  (Psalm 11:3 & 16:8, ESV)

"....The foundations have been destroyed...."  This was decreed 3000 years ago, and, I could make the case that for the last 3000 years this Word of God has been being fulfilled.  Yet in the midst of destroyed foundations comes a recurring promise, such as in Amos 9:11, "On that day I will raise up the tabernacle of David, which has fallen down, and repair its damages; I will raise up its ruins, and rebuild it as in the days of old...."

Today change in cultures is occurring at such an accelerated pace that the human mind cannot seem to keep up.  And during all the destruction of "good" foundations, the question is always, "What has the righteous done?"  This is a question I am keeping before me in these days.

The second verse of our text tells us just exactly the mindset that you and I must keep in the days of, "foundations have been destroyed":  "I have set the Lord Jesus Christ always before me; because Jesus is at my right hand, I shall not be shaken."  Strong's tells us that the word for, "shaken," in Hebrew is "a primitive root; to waver; by implication, to slip, shake, fall, fall(ing down, be (re-)moved."  Most of America's, "foundations have been destroyed."  This is also true of Europe.  But in the midst of crumbling, "foundations," you and I have, "....because Jesus is at my right hand, I shall not be shaken," nor, "waver," nor, "slip," nor, "fall," nor be, "destroyed."

Father, in Jesus' Name, as foundations come crashing down around me, I thank You that You are my foundation, "The Rock," and, "always before me, and in Whom I delight.  Amen.

When Peter, an 18 year old Norwegian, "heard the call to evangelize China, on that day he not only emptied his wallet into the collection plate, but included a small note with the words, 'and my life.'"
