"Whatever the Lord Pleases He Does"

"Whatever the Lord pleases He does, in heaven and in earth, in the seas and all deep places."  (Psalm 135:6)

Our text reveals a great conflict.  It is between, "Whatever the Lord pleases He does, in heaven and in earth," and whatever man pleases he does, or at least attempts to do, in earth; he cannot do it in heaven.  If he could, believe me, he would try.  The smart realize that only what, "the Lord, Jesus Christ, pleases," and, what the Lord Jesus Christ, "does, in heaven and earth," will endure, succeed, and triumph.  Whatever man does will end in horrible defeat.

Have you ever noticed how some "ministries" have much wider appeal than others?  A lot of it has to do with the same "rock star" excitement which brings people to buy millions of dollars worth of music and movies.  "It, they, he/she just speak to me."  Similar things were said of Adolph Hitler in his early days of ascent to leadership in the German Worker's Party, "He spoke from our heart, not from his."  He did, and it was the old, "deep calls to deep," spirit.  Hitler did not invent anti-semitism; he fed it.  He did not invent a racial superiority and militarism.  Rather, he developed them to a fevered pitch.  Do not for a moment think it could not happen again!

Ever since Adam and Eve humanity has been attempting to dictate to the world around it (and the Lord God) just how life should be, what is of value, and how people can get all the pleasure out of life possible.  Advertising, a multi billion dollar business, spends unbelievable hours trying to discover what man wants so that merchants can provide it and make money.  I have seen this in modern Christendom.
Yet in the frenzy of life, our text is a shout to the Universe, "Whatever the Lord pleases He does."  And to this, the Holy Spirit gives the added admonition, "For you were formerly darkness, but now you are Light in the Lord; walk as children of Light.., trying to learn what is pleasing to the Lord."

Father, in Jesus' Name, I will "try" today, "to learn what is pleasing to [You]."  Amen.
