"Which Ones?"-- A Question For the Impure of Heart

"....But if you wish to enter into life, keep the commandmentsHe said to Him, 'Which ones?'" (Matthew 19:17)

"
Which ones?"  This is the attitude of modern religion.  Foreshadows, types, New Testament fulfillment, all are terms used to deal with the uncomfortable commandments, ones which just might alter my life style.  When Jesus would later tell his disciples, "If you love Me, keep My commandments," they had learned not to ask, "Which ones?"

"
And the LORD commanded us to observe all these statutes, to fear the LORD our God, for our good always, that He might preserve us alive, as it is this day."  There has never been, Church, a-- "Which ones?"-- in the Word of God.  God does not issue superfluous laws and decrees.  Whether Old Testament or New Testament, the law is "for our good always."  The purpose of the Living Triune God for you and me is to, "preserve us alive."  Jesus said, "I am come that they might have life."  The, "abundantly," was an emphasis of the "God-Breathed" Life which is ours in Jesus Christ.  "They are not just idle words-- they are your life."  Why can He
say this?  He can say this because Jesus is the Word of God, our Preservation, our Life, our Way, our Truth-------------- our Abundantly.

Take a new look at those laws in the "
God-Breathed" Word which you may have relegated to, the "Which ones?" bin. There just may be a healing, a deliverance, an, "abundantly" which has escaped you.

Father, in Jesus' Name, "
Open thou mine eyes, that I may behold wondrous things out of thy law."  Amen.
