This Is Delayed Because I Could Not Get A Connection Earlier

"Away with your hymns of praise!  They are only noise to my ears.  I will not listen to your music, no matter how lovely it is.  Instead, I want to see a mighty flood of justice, a river of righteous living that will never run dry." (Amos 5:23, 24--NLT)

This is the American National Day of Prayer when the American church will gather in public places to pray.  Yet in the last almost 50 years the American church has been steadily losing the battle for the soul of the nation.  The enemy beat us by taking prayer and Bible reading out of the state school system.  The enemy beat us by the legalization of the murder of the unborn.  And in just the last few years, states, one by one, have been legalizing same gender marriage.

There is much need for prayers of repentance in today's gatherings, but just as importantly there is much need for acts of obedience.  If this day's gathering is just marked by more fancy praying without more tangible obedience, it will be just another tribal war dance.  It was the American "Christian" who helped elect a president and Congress, and soon to witness more Supreme Court Justices who will increasingly reject the Judeo/Christian roots of the nation.  Yet the American church just goes on preaching, worshipping, jumping around, while at the same time voting reprobates to lead the nation.  Prayers which are not accompanied by obedience to the Word of God just bring further judgment.

I am just as much a sinner as the next person.  Without the Blood of Jesus, I would be going to the Great White Throne Judgment, and straight to the fires of Hell.  Obedience to Jesus Christ and His Words is the key to salvation, "peace with God,"  and a home in Heaven for individuals.  And obedience to Jesus Christ and His Words is the key to revival and societal transformation for any people group on the planet.  The modern church speaks of "the prayer movement" and the "worship movement."  Thus says the Lord God, "Instead, I want to see a mighty flood of justice, a river of righteous living that will never run dry."

Father, in Jesus' Name, I confess that disobedience has too much triumphed over obedience in my life.  I pray for continual conviction, Holy Spirit, for that to change.  Amen.
