"To Reveal His Son In Me"

"....to reveal His son in me...."  (Galatians 1:16)

This is and has been the purpose of the Godhead from eternity----- to reveal Jesus Christ in humanity, in you, in me.  Yet through the millennia there has been a problem, a confusion, and a seeming contradiction of The Faith.  Why is it that so many unbelievers act like believers and so many believers act like unbelievers?  Could the answer be so simple as to say that a disproportional emphasis has been placed on right belief and right talk, rather than right behavior?

The "
God-Breathed" Word speaks much of our behavior.  Later in the Galatian Epistle, Paul writes concerning Peter's conduct.  "I opposed him to his face, because he stood condemned....He began to withdraw and hold himself aloof....But when I saw that they were not straightforward about the truth of the gospel, I said to Cephas in the presence of all...."  He called Peter to account for wrong behavior.  Far too many times religionists have relegated this passage to the "faith-works" issue.  They have spent far too little time on the behavioral issue.

Our Father's purpose is "
to reveal His Son in me," that is, in my flesh, my mind, my tongue, my behavior.  It is a Redemption which brings about behavioral change, a Redemption which can bring us to say to the world what Paul said to the Galatian Church, "Be as I am...."

Father, in Jesus' Name, thank You for helping me to see things in The Gospel which I have been unwilling to see.  Amen.

Saudi Girl Excuted For Following Jesus

Saudi girl executed for becoming Christian

Israel Today Staff - Aug 14, 2008
Israel Today

A young girl in Saudi Arabia was brutally executed by her Muslim father this week after he learned his daughter had converted to Christianity.

Middle East business news website Zawya.com reported that the man, who is a prominent member of a "virtue committee," first cut out his daughter's tongue and held a one-sided religious debate with her. He then burned his daughter alive.

Observant Muslims hold that their Prophet Mohammed taught that Muslims who convert to any other religion must be killed, often in extremely brutal fashion.

Have You Disappeared?

"Therefore I loathe [my words] and abhor myself and repent in dust and ashes."  (Job 42:6-- Amplified Bible)

Literally, I "spurn, cast away, disdain" myself and cause myself "to disappear."  Here we see self yielding to the Almighty.  I "disappear."  What is it which John said?  "[Jesus] must increase, but I must decrease."  This same conclusion Job came to after the long duration of suffering, the suffering of great loss, of friends who were more like enemies, and the realization of utter futility in the attempt to understand life and the universe.  This was indeed a broken man.

I recently took part in a "solemn assembly."  It was a good attempt, but I did not sense in any of us (myself included) the heart of Job expressed in our text.  In fact, and in reality, I must ask myself, "Have I ever come to this point?"  I have been "down," hurting, known pain and heartache, but that is not enough; it does not "qualify" as repentance, as causing myself "to disappear."  To tell the truth, I don't think it can be explained.  It must come through impartation.

If you and I ask for a self abhorrent heart, a heart which has written on it, "I am crucified with Christ," we may need to be prepared for "the process" which brings us to such a state.  Whatever it is, and whatever is involved, the result of such a heart in us Followers of Jesus Christ, would be life, community, and even nation changing.

Father, in Jesus' Name, I am afraid to pray for the "heart" of Job.  Release me to pray it.  Amen.
