"....THE ONLY SAFE MAN IN THE UNIVERSE"

"O Lord, I have come to you for protection; don't let me be disgraced....O Lord, you alone are my hope.  I have trusted You, O Lord, from childhood....Yes, You have been with me from birth....And now, in my old age, don't set me aside.  Don't abandon me when my strength is failing."  (Psalm 71, NLT)

I am about nine months from my 80th birthday.  I notice aging signs from time to time.  The Psalmist also noticed his "advancing years," and penned our text.   Now I seem okay, but there is just no doubt that we all need to accept that with age comes "failing" strength.  I can no longer run a 4.5 40.

E. Stanley Jones writes in his book, The Unshakable Kingdom and the Unchanging Person, "No man is safe unless he can stand anything that can happen to him.  The one who belongs to the Kingdom is safe, for not only can he bear failure, sickness, old age, and death--- he can use them.  He is the only safe man in the universe.  He has the significance of the ultimate order."  

You and I belong to The Unchanging King, Jesus Christ, and His "Unshakable Kingdom."  We are as the old hymn says, "Safe in the Arms of Jesus."

Father, in Jesus' Name, I thank You that You will not, "....set me aside."  Amen.
