Jesus Is Always The Problem

"And in all that I have said to you, be circumspect and make no mention of the name of other gods, nor let it be heard from your mouth."  (Exodus 23:13)

A corresponding New Testament passage is 1 Cor. 8:5, 6, "For even if there are so-called gods,..yet for us there is one God, the Father, of whom are all things, and we for Him; and one Lord Jesus Christ, through whom are all things, and through whom we live."  Notice the wonderful clarity of stating just Who is God-- "the Father,..and one Lord Jesus Christ."

If this is not clearly stated and lived out as the Community of the Redeemed, we are in violation of our text, and, the world will never have a "clear presentation of the Gospel."  I'm telling you today that to "marginalize" Jesus, as is the trend more and more in modern Christendom, is to by default, "mention the name of other gods...."  If Jesus Christ is not central, fundamental, in all we do and say, we are, "mention[ing] the name of other gods."

"Broken record?"  I won't fix it.

Father, in Jesus' Name, I so thank You that You cleared up the confusion of mankind as to who You Are in Jesus.  Amen.

When Peter, an 18 year old Norwegian, "heard the call to evangelize China, on that day he not only emptied his wallet into the collection plate, but included a small note with the words, 'and my life.'"
