The Book Burning

"And it happened, when Jehudi had read three or four columns, that the king cut it with the scribe's knife and cast it into the fire that was on the hearth, until all the scroll was consumed in the fire that was on the hearth."  (Jeremiah 36:23)

On May 10, 1933 the Germans burned thousands of books on what is called today, The Bebelplatz, in Berlin.  The US Government did, essentially, the same thing to the Bible when they allowed the Supreme Court in 1963 to outlaw, "The Words of God," in the State School System.  Our text reveals that this attempt has been going on for millennia.  In Jeremiah's case, the Lord Jesus simply told him to write His Words again.

There is an attempt in the United States of America today to destroy good people.  This attempt is by the same evil which has been at work since the Garden.  No one, however, can destroy that which is eternal.  Our God, Father, Son Jesus, Holy Spirit, is referred to in Jewish Tradition as, "The Eternal One."  I have often quoted the Words of Jesus, "Heaven and earth will pass away, but My Words will not pass away."  Eternity just does not, "pass away."

So, my friend, why not give yourself as a top priority in your life to the, "God-Breathed," Words.  "Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust (and fire) destroy and where thieves break in and steal; but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust (nor fire) destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also."

Father, in Jesus' Name, while this world worships longevity, I worship You, "The Eternal One."  Amen.

When Peter, an 18 year old Norwegian, "heard the call to evangelize China, on that day he not only emptied his wallet into the collection plate, but included a small note with the words, 'and my life.'"
