I read through Revelation last evening. Skip a couple of those favorite TV programs, and--- no problem. The first words of Revelation tell us that, "He is coming." 3:11 says, "Behold, I am coming quickly." Three times in the last chapter the Lord Jesus tells us, "I am coming quickly." Now, my friend, "quickly," to you and me is not, "quickly," to our Lord Jesus Christ. We think primarily in a time/space continuum. He Who Is, "The Word of God," the Eternal One, Is indeed Eternal and "lives and operates" in Eternity. Also, it is no quip or trite statement to say that if, "a thousand years in Your sight are like yesterday when it is past, and like a watch in the night," and, "But, beloved, do not forget this one thing, that with the Lord one day is as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day," well, He has only been "gone" 2 days!
Throughout history, the saints, people just like you and me, have expected the imminent return of our Lord Jesus Christ. While others have laughed and mocked such expectation, Followers of Jesus through the ages have begun each day with the expectation of His Glorious Return. They just believed the Bible! They, like so many of us today, were, "looking for the blessed hope and glorious appearing of our Great God and Savior Jesus Christ." This is the great motivation for regular trips to Berlin. This city is a key to understanding Biblical prophecy. This city will be central to the cataclysmic close of the present age. There is so much "majoring in the minor" things of life in so much of Christendom, so many programs, events, seminars which do nothing to prepare the Followers of Jesus for the events which are surely coming on the whole earth. "And there will be signs in the sun, in the moon, and in the stars; and on the earth distress of nations, with perplexity, the sea and the waves roaring; men's hearts failing them from fear and the expectation of those things which are coming on the earth, for the powers of the heavens will be shaken. Then they will see the Son of Man coming in a cloud with power and great glory" (Jesus). It is a great privilege and ominous responsibility to realize that you and I are just as much, "eyewitnesses and servants of [this] word," as the First Century Believers.
Father, in Jesus' Name, and may we be found faithful, "servants of the Word...in That Day....Even so, come quickly, Lord Jesus." Amen.
