PLEASE NOTE UPDATE BELOW DEVOTIONAL

"They dress the wound of my people as though it were not serious.  'Peace, peace,' they say, when there is no peace."  (Jeremiah 6:14, NIV)

Most are familiar with the last sentence of today's text, not so the first.  People who have been referred to as "optimists" are often, "'peace, peace,'..when there is no peace", people.  As a result, "They dress the wound of My People as though it were not serious."  The, "wound," of the earth, however, and, "My People," is very, "serious."

I read and prayed today from one of the Psalms reading, "Restore us again, God our Savior [Who is our Lord Jesus Christ], and put away Your displeasure toward us....Will You not revive us again, that Your people may rejoice in You....He promises peace to His People, His Faithful servants-- but do let them not turn to folly."  

Father, in Jesus'  Name, I pray that I see just how, "serious," is this present time.  "Will You not revive us...."  Amen.

Sarah and I will be joining a team serving in what the U.S Senate Commission on Indian Affairs refers to as "Indian Country."  Our opportunity of serving is on the Crow Indian Reservation in Southern Montana.  We will be away from August 27-September 6.

"The Fear of the Lord Is the Key...."

"He will be the sure foundation for your times, a rich store of salvation and wisdom and knowledge; the fear of the Lord is the key this treasure."  (Isaiah 33:6, NIV)

Well, that is all you and I need.  Jesus, is our, "Foundation for your times," Jesus is, "a rich store of salvation and wisdom and knowledge;.., and, "the fear of Jesus is the key to this treasure," and this, "treasure," is not a "plan," concept, etc.  He is a Person, The Person, the Living Triune God, only "available" to us in  our Glorious Lord Jesus Christ.

Father, in Jesus Name, Thank You so much that in Jesus Christ we see, hear, know, and have You.  Amen.

"When all has been heard, the conclusion of the matter is this: fear God and keep His Commands, because this is for all humanity.  For God will bring every act to judgment, including every hidden thing, whether good or evil."  (Ecc. 12:13, 14--CSB)

I finished reading through the Book of Ecclesiastes yesterday.  If I may share a suggestion: I have a suspicion that many of the "spirituals" among us rarely read Ecclesiastes.  Do it.  The old "preacher," the one who penned Proverbs and the Song of Solomon, had a "heaven-come-to-earth" experience.  

There is a message here of Jesus, "The Word of God," which is most likely, rarely considered in worship gatherings, sermons, "prophetic utterances."  I know from experience that modern "evangelicalism" struggles with the content.  Even though you and I may resist the "raw" truth of the Words in Ecclesiastes, may you and I never forget that, "All Scripture is God-Breathed," and as Our Lord Jesus Christ continually reminds us, "The Words that I speak to you (all of Them) are spirit and they are life."

Father, in Jesus' Name, I thank you for ALL Your Words.  Amen.
