"RSVP"

"Therefore go into the highways, and as many as you find, invite to the wedding.....But when the king came in to see the guests, he saw a man there who did not have on a wedding garment." (Matthew 22:9 &11)

 

You are invited.  Have you responded?  RSVP is from a French phrase which literally means, "Respond if you please."  I "please!"----- and have responded, and find it "pleasing" to keep responding.  Blessed invitation!  But I always keep in mind that if I am going to "the wedding," it is not because I am a "good" person, pray, go to church services, give to the poor, do mission work.  I am going because I have been invited.  And what a wedding this is.  The invitation, festivities, and accommodations have been paid for by the Groom's, Family------ in the Blood of Jesus, the death of Jesus, the resurrection of Jesus, and the continual intercession of Jesus.  

 

The invitation in our text reveals that all humanity is invited to the "Marriage Supper of the Lamb."  But there is a dress code.  William Mote, 1797-1874, perhaps best described the dress code for "the wedding:"

            "When He shall come with trumpet sound,

            Oh may I then in Him be found.

            Dressed in His righteousness alone,

            Faultless to stand before the throne"

Garmented in Jesus and "the righteous of God through faith in Jesus Christ"----------------------- a very fine "wedding garment," indeed.

 

Father, in Jesus' Name, I thank You that You have provide me with the acceptable "wedding garment."   Amen.

You Want Perfect Government?-- I Give You Perfect Government

Voila----"For the LORD is our judge, our lawgiver, and our king.  He will care for us and save us."  (Isaiah 33:22, NLT)

 

Yesterday I watched what was described as "pomp and circumstance."  The dictionary describes, "pomp and circumstance," as, "a procession distinguished by ostentation" and "fuss."  Millions of Americans, including millions of church-goers, were shouting what the masses were shouting at the trial of Jesus before Pilate, "We have no king but Caesar," with but one word changed in the text.  I had but one thought.  "....Yet for us there is one God, the Father, of whom are all things, and we for Him; and one Lord Jesus Christ, through whom are all things, and through whom we live."  Hats off to Rick Warren closing his prayer in the Name of Jesus!

 

Thrust into this whole madness is our text, describing Our Blessed Trinity as Perfect Government, i.e., Perfect Judicial, Legislative, Executive.  It was not the intent of the Founding Fathers of America to replace the Word of God, Jesus Christ, as "our judge, our lawgiver, and our king."  On the contrary, it was to reflect Him, to represent Him in every aspect of our culture, and, I might add, this is also the mission of the Church.  We were commissioned to proclaim the Reign of God, the Government of God, the Rule of God, referred to in Scripture as "the Kingdom of God," and "the Kingdom of Heaven," and which our Lord Jesus fulfilled as, "at hand."  Worshippers of democracy will never understand all of this.   

 

In the days ahead, Believers in Jesus Christ will be challenged as never before as to whom we obey as our judge, our lawgiver, our king.  Choose Jesus Christ; proclaim Jesus Christ; stay in the battle for the hearts and minds of men and nations, to the end that they all come under Jesus Christ and His Kingdom.  Do this until Jesus returns------------- until there are no more elections -------------- until there are no more ostentatious displays.

 

Father, in Jesus' Name, I have no King but You.  Amen.
