"This is what the Lord, the God of Israel, says: 'Long ago your ancestors, including Terah the father of Abraham and Nahor, lived beyond the Euphrates River and worshipped other gods. But I took your father Abraham from the land beyond the Euphrates and led him throughout Canaan and gave him many descendants.'" (Joshua 24:2, 3)
If you are struggling with a sense of loneliness, isolation, grief, despair, I highly suggest that you read Joshua 24. It was passages such as our text which brought me out of Bunyan's "Slough of Despond" 71 years ago. There is a rehearsal of, "Long ago," which we all need regularly. The whole chapter is a chapter of our salvation history, and, the incomprehensible keeping power of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Father, in Jesus' Name, thank You for Your, "long ago," reminders. Amen.
Hebrews 12:2
