"Oh, Little Town...."

"For there is born to you this day in the city of David a Savior, Who is Christ the Lord."  (Luke 2:11)

It was, and still is, a little obscure town, that "little town of Bethlehem."  But what happened on that starry night so long ago changed the course of history, changed you and me forever.  "F0r there is born to you...a Savior," yes, "born to you," and me, to all humanity, Jesus, Savior/King.  It is interesting that the Word translated, "you," is mostly translated in the Scripture as, "yours."  I wonder how, "Born yours," works?!?

This was no surprise to history nor to those like Simeon and Anna who had been awaiting, "The Coming One," all of their lives.  Anna was 84 years old before she saw what she had been looking for, and Simeon was also most likely and old man.  How long have you been looking for something in Jesus' time table, 84 years?  Take heart; you have a good example in Simeon and Anna.

"....God cannot lie," saith the, "God-Breathed," Word.  And seven hundred years before the announcement to the shepherds on the hills of Bethlehem the Prophet Micah gives us an all too overlooked prophecy:
"'But you, Bethlehem Ephrathah, Though you are little among the thousands of Judah, yet out of you shall come forth to Me the One to be Ruler in Israel, Whose goings forth are from days of Eternity....And He shall stand and feed His flock in the strength of the Lord, in the majesty of the Name of the Lord His God; and they shall abide, for now He shall be great to the ends of the earth; and this One shall be peace.'"

Father, in Jesus' Name, help me to wait for that which will surely, "come to pass."  Amen.

When Peter, an 18 year old Norwegian, "heard the call to evangelize China, on that day he not only emptied his wallet into the collection plate, but included a small note with the words, 'and my life.'"
