Blood

"Likewise He also took the cup after supper, saying, 'This cup is the New Covenant in My Blood, which is shed for you.'"  (Luke 22:20)

As "primitive," and even offensive as this may seem to moderns, it is still the only way that any of us may enter, "The New Covenant," and, I might add, all the accompanying benefits, promises, rewards, ultimately, as Hebrews says, "into Heaven Itself."

The humanists in seminary, when my Dad was studying there in the mid 1930s, called it "slaughterhouse religion."  The "enlightened," the Darwinists, the morality police of the universe all know better than God.  They were early versions of the song, "If I Ruled the World."  Well, they don't; Jesus Christ does that.  And, for His "reasons," and His alone, He has chosen to restore you and me in a "Blood Covenant,"  viz., "the New Covenant in My Blood."

Exodus 29:12 & 16 tells us, "You shall take some of the blood of the bull and put it on the horns of the altar with your finger, and pour all the blood beside the base of the altar....And you shall kill the ram, and you shall take its blood and sprinkle it all around on the altar."  This is all fulfilled from Gethsemane to Golgotha.  And sometime, just after the triumphant, "It is finished," our Lord Jesus Christ took, "the New Covenant in My Blood....into Heaven itself."

"Neither by the blood of goats and calves, but by His Own Blood He entered in once into the Holy Place, having obtained eternal redemption for us." As the Charles Wesley hymn declares, "We have no other argument, We have no other plea; it is enough that Jesus died, and that He died for me."

Father, in Jesus' Name, GLORY!  Amen.

When Peter, an 18 year old Norwegian, "heard the call to evangelize China, on that day he not only emptied his wallet into the collection plate, but included a small note with the words, 'and my life.'"
