This is akin to that great Pauline passage, "....We know that an idol is nothing in the world, and that there is no other God but one. For even if there are so-called gods whether in heaven or on earth (as there are many gods and many lords), yet for us there is one God, the Father, of whom are all things, and we for Him; and one Lord Jesus Christ, through Whom are all things, and through whom we live."
These, "gods," are not necessarily "third world" gods. Gods of "first world" countries are those things to which we have given our lives, which dominate our thinking and actions, our investment and energy. In other words, that which is lord over us. I watched this at work in DC the last two days. Contrast, "the Father,..and we for Him; and one Lord Jesus Christ, through Whom are all things, and through Whom we live." This is the One True God, "....through Whom we live."
I trust that you are of the, "yet for us," group. And it is indeed a contrast, how we think, how we live, choices we make. Every day we have the opportunity to say and live, "yet for us."
Father, in Jesus' Name, You are my, "yet for us." Amen.
When Peter, an 18 year old Norwegian, "heard the call to evangelize China, on that day he not only emptied his wallet into the collection plate, but included a small note with the words, 'and my life.'"
