"Day unto day uttereth speech, and night unto night sheweth knowledge....But the path of the righteous is like the light of dawn, that shines brighter and brighter until the full day." (Psalm 19:2, KJV & Proverbs 4:18, NASB)
The Psalms text is from a Psalm which I heard my 4th-6th grade home room teacher read from time to time, yes, in the King James Version. And, yes, in the United States of America there was a time when we actually did read the Bible and pray in the state ("public") school system, a Bible on every teacher's desk in every classroom, in every school building in America. I was no "model" 9-11 year old, but I do remember the Bible readings, and the Prayer of Jesus-------- every day in all the 12 years of grammar school. I well remember other "favorite" passages of teachers. I well remember listening, others in the room listening. From the "baby boomers" on, however, there is no recollection of this. "Big Brother" knew better than the statesmen who instituted Bible reading and the Prayer of Jesus in the USA school system. Humanists believed, and perhaps rightly, that if you could outlaw the Bible and the Prayer of Jesus, you would win all succeeding generations; history reveals strong credence to this. Humanists 7: Church 0. I fear it could be the last quarter.
There is a victorious element, however, in the United States of America, and, in every nation in the Earth. They are, "the righteous," of our Proverb text, ones in whom Jesus Christ lives, and those who are, "the righteous of God through faith in Jesus Christ," those who have, "become the righteousness of God in him,"[Jesus Christ], those who, as Peter said, "have obtained like precious faith with us through the righteousness of God and our Savior Jesus Christ...." The Proverb text describes you and me, my friend, if you and I continue in Jesus Christ, surrendering ourselves daily to Jesus, loving Jesus, and showing that love by serving Him, His Church, and the world by being, "the light of the world," and, "the salt of the earth," in Christ. And no matter how the Enemy may attempt to defeat us with discouragements, setbacks, things which no one can explain, Jesus proclaims that our future is just, "brighter and brighter until the full," literally, "the established, the appointed, determined, get yourselves ready, day."
O, what joy, what anticipation is, "the determined day." Nothing and no one can frustrate, "the established day." No one or any power in earth or the heavenlies can stop or even delay the approach of the, "get-yourselves-ready day." They can outlaw the Bible and Prayer of Jesus, but they cannot take the "God-Breathed" Words and the Living, "Word of God," Jesus Christ, out of our hearts and minds. At the Cross of Jesus, the present world system thought it had won the day. The empty Tomb said otherwise------------ "CHRISTUS VICTOR!"
Father, in Jesus' Name--------- HALLELUJAH! Amen.

When Peter, an 18 year old Norwegian, "heard the call to evangelize China, on that day he not only emptied his wallet into the collection plate, but included a small note with the words, 'and my life.'"
