"For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ...." (2 Corinthians 10:4, 5)
When I was in my twenties, I was thinking that the way in which you implemented our text was to just say, "I pull down your strongholds," etc. It is not. The warfare described here is obviously not that "declaratively prophetic." It is teaching, preaching, testifying to the, "Word of God."
In this coming election year, it would be great if the Church in America would pull down the, "strongholds," and, "arguments," of just voting the way your parents did, or the union says, or your gender, race, etc., dictates, pulling down strongholds that say voting is a matter of personal preference, or that "Christians should stay out of politics." The latter, my friend is why America is not the America of our fathers. As for "personal preference," that stopped the moment we surrendered our lives to Jesus Christ. This is how people who are surrendered to Jesus Christ vote: We look for those people and the party which come closest to representing, "the kingdom of our Lord and of His Christ," which most closely reflect Biblical Theology. It is incumbent upon us to know the platform of the people and party we vote for. To those who claim to be Christian, do not surrender to humanist-thinking-and-acting, "strongholds," and, "arguments." If those claiming Christianity would vote as "one block," we could take over the United States of America. After all, isn't that the Biblical mandate for the People of God?!?
I pray that what the Church preaches, teaches, bears witness to in these days always contributes to, "pulling down strongholds, casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ...."
Father, in Jesus' Name, "every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ," is my renewed commitment to You today. Amen.
