One Scripture From Second Sunday in Advent

"This is the vision that Isaiah son of Amoz saw concerning Judah and Jerusalem: In the last days, the mountain of the LORD's house will be the highest of all-- the most important place on earth.  It will be raised above the other hills, and people from all over the world will stream there to worship.  People from many nations will come and say, 'Come, let us go up to the mountain of the LORD, to the house of Jacob's God.  There he will teach us his ways, and we will walk in his paths.'  For the LORD's teaching will go out from Zion; his word will go out from Jerusalem.  The LORD will mediate between nations and will settle international disputes.  They will hammer their swords into plowshares and their spears into pruning hooks.  Nation will no longer fight against nation, nor train for war anymore.  Come, descendants of Jacob, let us walk in the light of the LORD!" (Is. 2:1-5, NLT)

Our text is from one of the four readings for the Second Sunday in Advent.  It is a passage which refers to the Second Coming of Jesus Christ.  It was a revelation to me that the original intent of Advent was to honor, celebrate, and remind people of, Jesus Christ, Who, on Christmas Day "became flesh (to) dwell among us," and Who, after His finished work of teaching, healing, delivering, "going about doing good," shedding His Most Precious Blood, beaten and dying on a Roman Cross, put in a guarded tomb so that His Body could not be taken, then became, "the firstborn from among the dead," and ascended on high.  Take that Devil! (sorry)

But the celebration of Jesus the Christ, Son of David, Word of the Father, does not end there.  There is more, much more glorious "events" ahead for us:
   1. "In the last days the mountain of the LORD's house will be...the most important place on earth.
   2. "People from all over the earth will stream there to worship."
   3. "The LORD's...word will go out from Jerusalem.
   4. "People from many nations will come and say, 'Come, let us go up to the...house of Jacob's God.'"
   5. "The LORD will...settle international disputes."
   6. "Nation will no longer fight against nation... anymore."
   7. And our exhortation for all seasons, "Come, descendants of Jacob, let us walk in the light of the LORD!"

Father, in Jesus' Name, all this is most gloriously overwhelming.  But, thank You.  Woody
