Correction

Correction to the second sentence in the second paragraph.  "It is not the purpose of Jesus Christ to hide anyone."

"You are our epistle written in our hearts, known and read by all men; Clearly you are an epistle of Christ ministered (served) by us, written not with ink but by the Spirit of the living God, not on tablets of stone but on tablets of flesh, that is, of the heart."
(2 Corinthians 3:2, 3)

I took great comfort and edification this morning from our text.  I am an, "epistle of Christ."  Okay, but the forepart which declares, "known and read by all men," can be quite disturbing and certainly put the fear of God in one's heart. 

I used to hear people pray for the preacher, "Hide him behind the cross."  It is not the purpose of Jesus Christ anyone.  His purpose is that you and I be, "known and read by all men."  What a sobering call in Christ.  It is as though The Blessed Trinity is saying to the whole world, "You want to know what I have intended for you?  Read this."

Father, in Jesus Name, I readily confess that the purity of this can only happen as I am in You and You in me.  Amen.

How To "Test" a Prophet

"Yet the Lord sent prophets to bring them back to him.  The prophets warned them, but still the people would not listen." (2 Ch. 25:19, NLT)

There may be other "purposes" of prophets, but our text gives us the fundamental purpose, "to bring them back to Him."

The next time you hear prophets, use our text today as a way to, "try the spirits."  Did they, "bring them back to [Jesus Christ?]" 

Father, in Jesus' Name, may I always be such a "prophet."  Amen.

Prayer Request

Our youngest daughter, Jill, found out today that she has marginal placenta previa.  Only about 10 percent have any difficulty, but she is our daughter.  We would so appreciate it if you will please remember her in prayer.  She is due in January.  Thank you so much.
